15 TO OPEN BOOTHE PLAY NEXT WEEK
The fairest flower of the South, Cindy Lou Bethany, played by Barbara Parmley, will return to the scene of her triumph next Tuesday evening, March 11th, when the Fifteen bring back by popular demand Clare Boothe's hilarious satire, "Kiss the Boys Goodbye". Mary Greene has stepped into the part of Myra Stanhope, the rowdy movie star, which was played by Kay Hibben who has retired from the theatre. The role of the society matron, vacated by Miss Greene, has been taken over by Elisabeth Cope. Miss Cope's part of Maimie, the colored maid, now falls to Louise Long. Among the men, Frank Rollinger has shifted from the dumb playboy, "Top" Rumsor, to the more elegantly sophisticated Horace Rand, editor of "Manhattan Man". Vaughn Baggerly, who once appeared as the colored butler, now has the play boy part.
Tennis Plan--
(Continued from Page One) swer the statements of the property owners and to explain his side of the question in full. The Inquiring Reporter was unable to reach two of the dissenting voters: Harry Stanley, who was out of the city and R. T. Bellchambers who was in a local hospital, ill. Here's what they had to say: Marvin Kemery, 322 Alesio St.: "To begin with, I have yet to hear of the University actually receiving a gift of $9,000. Also, the plan does not provide parking facilities for the stadium. Adequate parking facilities are necessary in any modern realty development. "While permanent development of the University district might increase values in this section, the University openly predicts that it will move south-ward in a few years, and the readjustment would be bad for this area. "If the University is to remain and become a permanent institution here, then I would be inclined to favor the proposed development, if the project were well planned and carried out." Frank Martin-Vogue, 333 Cadima St.: "The only objection I have is that this project might be both noisy and unsightly. Some of the University's grounds don't look so nice today; and if they can't take care of what they have, I don't see how they could make it look very nice here." Miss Virginia Terry, 334 Alesio Ave.: "Everyone knows that the University needs more room, but it's not wise to make a move of this kind too hastily. The information the University gave us on this project was really inadequate. "My main objection to this plan is that they can't show definitely that they'll have funds for maintenance of the place once they get it. We want to be certain that the courts won't be an eyesore. We're so close to the tract that the noise and parking jams might make us very uncomfortable. "And don't forget that once you let down restrictions in a highly-restricted area, the fall of all restrictions and values follows the first breach." L. S. Kurtz, 329 Cadima St.: "The University of Miami has not demonstrated yet that it can take care of what it has, and we have no evidence to show that this tract would be maintained any better. The $10,000 they have to start these courts will build them, but it won't provide for keeping them up. I don't think they can maintain them on those funds. "There's bound to be noise around the courts, too. We've invested our money here to have a quiet place to live. We feel that this athletic tract would devalue our property. "If they let it go like the University grounds, it would be an eyesores. If they can't care for what they have any better than they are doing, I don't see how they can take on anything additional." Lyde Roberts, 3617 Harlano St.: "I am not opposed to a tennis stadium if they don't use floodlights on it. It might be an asset to the district if it were properly landscaped and kept up. But the idea of having playgrounds is another matter--I don't like that at all. I believe that playgrounds would be a nuisance to the whole district." Dr. C. R. Burbacher, 3615 Harlano St.: "I'm not against a tennis stadium, but not a playground. If they want to use the tract and hold it down to tennis only, that's all right with me. That will be organized activity. "If you have a playground, though, you'll see a lot of students running around all day, and there would be noise and congestion as a result. But a good-looking tennis stadium would improve the appearance of the property." Mrs. Margaret Wood, 3703 Segovia St.: "We've just built a large house here, and it would be awful to have our property lose its value. I think there'd be a lot of noise and confusion if we had the tennis courts here, and I know we'd have trouble with the parking. I think it would be just terrible for this section." E. J. Huguelet, 3727 Harlano Ave.: "When I bought my home here, it was with the understanding that this was strictly a residential section. I had no idea it would ever be considered as a playground site. "In addition to the noise and parking congestion that would follow establishment of the tennis courts here, I'm sure that there would be a serious devaluation of property. "Another thing, while $10,000 would equip the courts and playground, there's not enough provision for its upkeep. If it's kept like some of the University grounds, it'll be an eyesore. I'd recommend that the University use the property it has already, south of Bird Road, instead of purchasing more." Joseph Chambers, 306 Alesio Ave.: "There'll be too much noise and the property will become too commercial if these courts go in. Besides, we should uphold our zoning code. If you break it for one thing, pretty soon it's completely broken. If we're going to have a code here, let's grounds is beyond me. "One thing I didn't like was that when they notified property owners of the commission meeting on the courts, they only notified those who lived within 500 feet of the proposed site. Actually, it would influence property owners much farther away than that." Miss June Strahler, 3714 Harlano St.: "We bought our house here with the idea of living in a purely residential section. If the tennis courts are put in, besides the fact that it would change the neighborhood, we figure that our property would be devalued by seven to ten percent." Herman Stutz, 438 Majorca Ave.: "The playgrounds will bring property down, and hurt the whole section with noise and confusion. I wouldn't want to live near such a thing myself. I have two houses here. Many people demand quiet in their homes. I know a lot of the property owners in the area agree with me." Harrison Wickel, 3721 Harlano St.: "I objected to the playground because, judging by the upkeep of the University, a playground in this section would look very bad. I doubt that $10,000 could make it look like a good piece of property. "A lot of people in this block came here for peace and quiet, and the noise and confusion would be very bad for them. "Mr. Mulloy admitted that if the University grows much in the next few years, the courts here would become inadequate. They have all the land they need for intramural sports in the Bird Road tract. Why not use it?" Dr. F. L. Olds, 3628 Harlano St.: "I'm not entirely against it. My main concern is whether it will bring down property values. I don't mind the noise and activity that would accompany a playground, but I don't feel like donating-money to the University in that way--by losing on my investment." J. Randolph Shaner, 2520 Country Club Prado: "The property owners around the University of Miami purchased their property at exceedingly high prices, supposing themselves protected by the zoning laws of Coral Gables against undue noise and intrusion. The University has grown, has taken up more and more of the supposedly restricted residential property, and is now attempting to spread out between and around the residences of private owners. The noise of college students, the blah-blah of jazz bands, the raucous shouting upon athletic fields, the petting in parked cars, the disregard for the amenities of dress and of manners, are all things that are pleasant only to the college students themselves. "Therefore, as a property owner in the neighborhood of the University of Miami I am opposed to any further encroachment upon residential property by the university, and would suggest that all steps in that direction be taken so that plans can be worked out by the university authorities which meet with the approval of the property owners of that neighborhood." W. S. Radway, 237 Vizcaya Ave.: "I particularly feel that it's wrong to close streets. If you once let down and close a street for somebody, soon everyone wants another street closed. "The tennis courts would be very bad for this section. They'd be parking all over the place; and there would be all kinds of noise and confusion. The University has 56 acres by Bird Road. None of the boys go on foot now, so it's no drive at all to Bird Road. Why they can't use five of those 56 acres for their tennis courts and play- stick to it."

Every UP-AND-COMING CITY MUST HAVE ALL MAJOR UTILITIES
Coral Gables has outgrown the era when one or two utility services could adequately care for its increasing needs. Yet, Coral Gables has no Gas Utility... while national statistics show that 3 out of 4 housewives throughout the United States PREFER GAS for cooking. And GAS is equally as desirable, dependable and economical for refrigeration and water heating. For room heating, nothing even approaches the efficiency of GAS! So, we believe Coral Gables deserves GAS SERVICE. Benefits to residents, commercial establishments, new tax revenues for the municipality... are some of the reasons why you, as a proud property owner in this thriving city SHOULD want Coral Gables to have this essential service. NOTE: As soon as the City Commission approves the ordinance now before them, the freholders of Coral Gables will be asked to vote on this important issue. In the meantime, study the pros and cons of GAS for Coral Gables. Then you're sure to vote "Yes!" GAS America's most dependable economical FUEL CONSUMERS GAS AND FUEL CO.
