MRS. LEWIS ROBINSON'S GARDEN BOWER OF BLOOMS
Mrs. Lewis Robinson's garden of blooming Easter lilies, now in their height! is one of the most beautiful sights in Coral Gables. Situated at either end of a 200-foot plot at the Robinson home on Avenue Romano, the lilies form a thick growing hedge of festive beauty. Mrs. Robinson can count as many as thirty-three buds (they'll all mature) on one stock. Starting with a mere 50 bulbs a few years ago and giving them no particular care, they have multiplied to more than 200 plants. But lilies aren't the only beauty in the Robinson grden. In addition to all of the annuals, shrubs, flowering trees (Royal Poinciana, Golden Shower and Kapok), Mrs. Robinson is especially proud of her Victory garden, contain tomatoes, okra, peas, beans, parsley cucumbers and watermelons.

Friday Night Open House Growing
The Friday night open house policy for newcomers, sponsored by the Young People's Society of the Presbyterian Church, is reaching important proportions. The newcomers night (every Friday) is a civic enterprise, not a denominational one. With the arrival of the Embry-Riddle boys at the Solana motel, directly across the street from the parish house, attendance at these Friday night parties is expected to be large. A plea for additional game room equipment is, therefore, being broadcast. If you have ping-pong sets, ping-pong tables, quoits, etc., call Mrs. Virginia Sullinger, 4-9757. They'll be glad to pick up same. At tonight's party, under the direction of Miss Phoebe Sudlow, a moonlight sing in the patio and May Day festivities will be featured.

LESSON-SERMON ANNOUNCED
CHURCHES OF CHRIST, SCIENTIST "Everlasting Punishment" is the subject of the lesson-sermon which will be read in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world, on Sunday, May 3. The golden text is: "The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands" (Psalms 9:16). Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon is the following from the Bible: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting" (Gal. 6:7, 8).

Uniform Fits Soldier Now
The ancient gag that the Army issues clothing in two sizes-too large and too small-has been thrown out the window at Camp Blanding, where recruits are given one size only -the correct size and tailored to fit. Every man's uniform is made to hang perfectly before he is assigned to a replacement center for his initial military training. That is the order of Captain L. C. Lochicotte, who issues clothing to newly-inducted soldiers at the reception center here. Army uniforms come standard, but soldiers are of all sizes and shapes and so each presents an individual problem if the standard doesn't fit. Thus, the system works this way. After all items have been issued, the soldier puts on his dress uniform-trousers, wool or serge trousers, blouse and shoes -and then his cottons and mounts a pedestal precisely as he might do in civilian life when he had a suit tailor-made. Then Captain Lochicotte-a Columbia, S. C., jeweler before he came into the Army-or an assistant go over the clothing to see what adjustments, if any, are necessary. The trousers are taken up or made longer; the blouse snugged a bit or let out; the shirt adjusted here or there. Garments needing alterations -there have been over 1,800 in the past sixty days-are sent to the quartermaster, where such over all other similar jobs. work carries a priority rating Twenty-four hours later the soldier what has amounts to a perfectly tailored uniform. And even after a few days if he believes some article needs further attention, he may ask for another alteration-and get it. Shoes present little problem. Soldiers with odd-sized feet can find almost any sort of footgear they want from sixc 4C to 15EEEE. If a soldier's foot is any larger, special shoes are made for him. The idea for this perfect-fit plus is the pet of Captain Lochicotte. "I remember when I served in the first World War," he said. "We were issued just anything that would do and when I was assigned to Blanding, I made up my mind that if I had anything to say about it, every man who passed me would start army life with a properly-fit uniform."
Captain Pentland Reports Robert Pentland, Jr., left Wednesday to report to Washington, D. C., May 2, for duty. Accompanied by Mrs. Pentland and his young daughter, Margaret Ann, the Captain motored to Blowing Rock, N. C.,
