Woman's Music, Garden Groups Join In Yule Party

By Helen Reynolds | Don't let any one ever tell you a great group of women can't sing together. They sweetly sang "Joy to the World" yesterday as an opener at the combined meetings of the Coral Gables Woman's Garden and Music Clubs. And at the close of the program they took up "Silent Night" in the modulated voice tones conceded to that great Christmas hymn. The occasion marked the fourth year of the combined club Christmas party. By two thirty o'clock there wasn't a seat to be had, and before the program got underway, all available chairs from the nearby library had been pressed into service and standing room was at a premium. Two large silvered trees at the entrance to the clubrooms contrasted with two large green Christmas trees at either end of the platform. Poinsettia decorated the tea tables, placed at right angles to the platform, and around the room hung long leaf pine branches tied with paper candy striped canes and gilded holly. Picturesque Church Rites Unite Henrietta Ann Fenner, John Marcus Grathwohl

Mrs. Grathwohl | In a setting of palms, ferns, bouquets of white pom-poms, feather pampus palms and cathedral candles in the chancel of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Miss Henrietta Ann Fenner became the bride of John Marcus Grathwohl last evening at a seven-thirty o'clock ceremony. The Rev. Dr. Christopher P. Sparling read the service and Mary Conover Winter, organist, played a program of nuptial music including the wedding marches. Given in marriage by her father, the pretty bride wore an ivory satin wedding gown with long train. Long sleeves, a lace yoke and bertha collar accented the fitted basque. Her long veil of net was attached to the head with a tiara of seed pearls. A single strand of pearls and pearl earrings were also worn by the bride. Her bouquet was formed of three large white orchids, pompoms and long streamers of white satin ribbon. Miss Elizabeth Horlamus, maid of honor, wore a gown of aqua brocaded satin made with full sweep skirt and fitted bodice. Miss Martha Horlamus and Miss Victoria Parkinson, wore identical gowns, but in peach brocaded satin. Gold flecked head dresses and sheaves of aqua and peach pampus palms, trailing streamers in the same hues, completed the costumes of the attendants. Irve Ibach was best man for Mr. Grathwohl. Seating the wedding guests were Robert Winters and Tony Yovicin. Reception Follows Rites A reception at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick William Fenner Sr., 419 Avenue Aragon, followed the ceremony. Mrs. Fenner wore a rose formal gown with rose petal hat, and a gardenia and rosebud corsage. Mrs. Marcus Grathwohl, mother of the groom, who came down with Mr. Grathwohl from their home in Port Jervis, N. Y., to attend the marriage, wore a blue formal gown with matching veiled hat, and a gardenia and rosebud corsage. Miss Jackie Jennings and Miss Shirley McKinney assisted, while Miss Regina Whitaker kept the bride's book. The bride attended the University of Miami and during her Junior year was vice president of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
