Station Manager Wins Prize For Beautification
Pete White, manager of the Douglas Road Gulf Service station at 2501 SW 37th Ave., has won the amateur and business categories of the City of Miami Beautification Contest. The prize for the beautification improvements White and his assistants made to the service station is a trip to Nassau for himself and his wife. He also received a plaque from the beautification committee. White entered the contest in July when he took over manage at of the station. He filed his formal application after he had applied for a permit to make improvements to the building and grounds. The improvements were a general cleaning and painting of the property and the planting of shrubs. A picture was taken before improvements were started to determine the degree of beautification. The judges were Miami Mayor Robert King High, the mayors' committee, and prominent citizens of Miami. A county-wide beautification contest is now in the formal planning stage.
