ACCORDING to survey, there are more radios than telephones in America's homes. Of the millions of listeners, none is as diligent as the radio, editor. As the result of querying these in a nationwide United States and Canada poll, the New York World-Telegram gleaned the popularity ratings of the stars. Kate Smith (1) was voted the Favorite Popular Singer by a comfortable margin; Jack Benny (2), a double winner, was rated the Favorite Comedian; his show, the Favorite Program. In the announcer classification (3) Don Wilson (right) was winner with Harry von Zell runner-up. Dinah Shore, (4) shown with her boss, Eddie Cantor, was voted the Outstanding New Star of the year, second only to Kate Smith among the popular singers; (5) Helen Hayes' dramas, though comparatively new to the airwaves, won second place among all the dramatic productions. Mrs. L. B. Hazzard of Cran-ford, New Jersey is the guest of Mrs. T. L. Ingram of 2214 Segovia Circle.
