W. Henry Blinns Await Visit From Son-In-Law, Daughter
The W. Henry Blinns of 1218 Salzedo Street have ringed the date November 15th on their calendar. That's the red-letter day when their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sherman, will return to the Gables for the first time since their marriage almost a year ago. The former Sari Jane Blinn and her husband now make their home in Ventnor, N. J. The Presbyterian Church wedding of the popular girl, who grew up in Coral Gables, was one of the major social events of the Christmas season last December. "I'm so excited I can hardly think," Mrs. Blinn declared today as she busied herself with preparations for the long delayed visit. Sari Jane wants to stay with her parents for a month or six weeks and her husband will join her on flying visits whenever business permits. Also looking forward to a reunion with her niece was Mrs. Clifford Prince of Dublin, Ga., who is houseguest of her sister and brother-in-law.

Big Name Bands to Play At University Legion Dance
Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Kay Kyser and Sammy Kaye will take turns on the bandstand Friday night when University student-veterans of Damon Runyan Legion Post hold their first dinner-dance. That's no schmo, Joe. Projectors in the College Club hall will flash movies of all the Big Time bands on a screen that night, and while Legionnaires and their dates dance to the music issuing from the sound track they will also be able to see their favorite swingsters in action. Clyde Lucas will appear as guest star in the flesh at the festivities planned for 8 o'clock on the site of the college veterans village, N. W. 20th Street and Le Jeune Road. Two hundred girls from Barry College have received the consent of the Mother Superior to attend the dance and will arrive in special busses. Nurses from Jackson Memorial Hospital also have been invited as special guests of the youthful Legionnaires. Busses will bring students from the South Campus and return them to quarters after the affair. Post Commander George Nicholas and his wife, Joan, Legion adjutant, are being assisted in planning the entertainment by an Entertainment Chairman Dave Watson and his committee of four: Chuck Gafis, Leonard Dudziak, Harry Durant and William Troth. Dean Russell A. Rasco, newly inducted Runyan Post member, will be honored guest.

Opa-locka Sign, Police Badge Win Scavenger Hunt for Murray McClain
Young Murray McClain earned the title of Scavenger Extraordin-ary and captured the grand prize for successful sleuthing at a weekend party honoring Larry Marks on his 14th birthday. As a dozen guests entered the Samuel Marks home, 504 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, they were handed lists of articles to be procured before the end of the evening. Murray won the scavenger hunt by ferreting out an Opa Locka sign, a Pell Mell cigarette, an empty beer can and a night club match folder. He added the Grand Prize to his winnings by bringing back a policeman's badge. Harper Davidson rang doorbells in vain, seeking a copy of the Paris Tribune, two oranges and a coin with two heads. Other guests were dispatched for dog collars, Pepsi Cola bottle caps, and copies of Forever Amber. Their host was only partially successful in his mission to find a broken toy, a broken light bulb and a piece of Limburger cheese. "I got the first two but couldn't find any Limburger — thank goodness!" he reported.
First Nighters Applaud Two Premieres
The play was the thing in Coral Gables last night as two Little Theatre productions had their premieres. At St. Theresa's auditorium Joan Odell in the alter ego of "Junior Miss" kept her stage family in connipitions and her audience in hysterics, while players of the Theatre Group of the Country Club in Coral Gables were acting out the eerie measures of "Outward Bound." Both plays will be presented again tonight. Bouquets of applause went to Joan for her portrayal of Judy Graves in the recent Broadway hit, and to Robert Farrell, one-time Loyola dramatic star, for his convincingly edgy performance as the harassed father of two 'teen-aged daughters. Smooth characterizations by Noreen McGraw as Mrs. Graves, Victor Renuart, Robert Hiss, Jack Probst, Gertrude Ekhart, Joan Cummings and Ann Haskins were proof enough of their dramatic talents, and a feather in the cap of Mrs. John Lyden, director. Pre-curtain dinners were enjoyed by many of the Country Club playgoers. R. E. Nitzsche of 2412 North Greenway Drive honored his wife, a member of the "Outward Bound" cast at a dinner party for 21 guests, while Mrs. Herbert Brown was hostess to 11 guests in the air conditioned dining room. Other diners-out were Dr. Oden Schaeffer whose party numbered eight and the E. E. Pennocks.

Don Carlos, Mrs. Harold Dorn and Mrs. J. D. Gautier. A board meeting will precede the business session.

Mrs. Kenneth Hargreaves and her three children, John, Margaret and Colin, who now reside in London have been guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wait, 3260 Riviera Dr. When Mrs. Hargreaves, who has gone on by plane to California, returns to Coral Gables, she will be joined by her husband. He will return to London after the first of the year, but she plans to remain here until March.
Mrs. Charles R. Harting Directs Monthly Style Shows; Plans Curtain-Raiser Nov. 20th
Upstage, center in the Coral Gables social scene this season will be the pageant of fashion-firsts to be staged throughout the Winter against the tropical backdrop of the Country Club of Coral Gables. A luncheon style show November 20th in club patio and dining hall will raise the curtain on the fashion futurama that will mirror month-to-month the costumes favored for fun under the sun. Upon the capable—and always chiefly groomed—shoulders of Mrs. Charles R. Harting and her busy committee will rest responsibility for the ambitious program that for the first time will present exclusively - Gables gowns modeled by Coral Gables women for neighbors who call the City Beautiful home. "Hard work? Sure. But what a bang I'm getting out of it!" confessed the petite "stage manager." "How could I help it," Mrs. Harting added. "Enthusiasm and cooperation from models, merchants and committee have been overwhelming!" Continuity scripts from the typewriter of Mrs. Frank N. Holley, Gables author, will add a touch of theatre to the presentations while Mrs. John Halifax will supervise models and programs. Behind-the-scene quick changes will be the responsibility of Mrs. Lee Gebhart, "props" and wardrobe director, and Mrs. Jacqueline Paulk Pierce, Mrs. E. S. Woodward and Mrs. Harold G. Robinson will assist the chairman in style selections. Mrs. James B. Moore will serve as coordinator between the Club fashion council and Gables women's apparel shops which will costume models for each event. Fashion firsts from the show windows of Lillian Frederic Elaine's and Minna Lee will be featured in the initial November luncheon show, (Please Turn to Page Eight)
