Rally 'Round The Flag, Say Scouts
Explorer Scouts Post 210, sponsored by the Westwood Lake Civic Association, are flag wavers and are seeking to enlist the aid of area merchants. Their plan is to handle flag displays for busy merchants, according to Jerome F. Rice, Explorer Scout advisor. For $15 a year, Rice said, the scouts will install a bracket or provide an appropriate hole and place and remove "Old Glory" on eight national holidays. The three by five foot flags may also be purchased out-right for $10 from the Scouts, Rice said. Arrangements may be made by contacting Rice at CA 1-1904 between 5 and 11 p.m.
God's Power
By NEIL WYRICK Palmetto Presbyterian Pastor The psychiatrists call it "projection." Jesus of Nazareth described it as the splinter in your eye and the mote in your brother's eye. Life spells it out clearly if you look hard enough to see it. It is the ability, though a very dubious ability, to find all your faults in others and never recognize them in yourself. It is the chronic liar accusing everyone else of never telling the truth. It is the thief complaining that the world is dishonest. It is the opinionated fool who grumbles that wife or husband never listens to their opinion. It is the children who act like know-it-alls and whine that their parents act like they know it all. Jesus said it, "Remove the splinter from your own eye first . . ." Perhaps the best way to close would be to suggest that every time you find a fault in someone else . . look real close to see if some of that fault isn't in YOU.
Gables Is Insured For $3.1 Millions
Fifteen firms will share premiums on Coral Gables' $3.1 million fire and windstorm insurance coverage approved by the City Commission recently. Coverage on the total is split into two segments — the sewer system and buildings and contents. The latter excludes the bus terminal, which is covered under a separate plan. Four firms will be responsible for the sewer system coverage of $1.2 million. They will each get a fourth of the first year's premium of $1,398. Eleven firms are sharing the building coverage totalling $1.8 million. Each will receive $383.10 of the $4,214.10 first year premium.
