Coral Gables Woman's Club Faces Busy Week and Month of Cultural Events

Members of the Coral Gables Woman's Club have an interesting calendar of events for the month of January. With the third meeting of the Poetry class taking place at 10:30 a. m. Monday at the home of Mrs. James Macfarlane, 1205 Granada Boulevard, Shelley's philosophical statement is brought to mind, "poetry is ever accompanied with pleasure and all spirits on which it falls open themselves to receive the wisdom which is mingled with delight". For these groups of poetry appreciation and expression are perhaps the most joyful of all departments in the club, Mrs. Ralph L. Engle is chairman. Mrs. Isaac Diller, speaker for the day will review a group of English poets. Following this, Mrs. Charles Susong will read some of the works of Witter Bynner. This will be followed by readings by Mrs. Macfarlane from Sara Teasdale poems and by Mrs. W. H. Walker, presenting selection from Edna St. Vincent Millay. At this time contest poems will also be read. The Arts and Crafts Class is drawing to a successful close these army nets, two more meetings of this group after which the new class in Interior Decorating will be organized with Mrs. Hester Parker, instructor. More about this work later on. These classes are held every Wednesday morning at the club rooms at 9:30 o'clock.
