Whitley Urges Citizens To Salvage Waste Materials

(Continued from Page one) the Coral Gables division of the Waste Materials Salvage Committee of the Dade County Defense Council, of which Mrs. C. H. Reeder is general chairman for the area. Beginning April 1, more than 3,000 information cards, to be hung in the kitchens of Gables housewives, are to be given residents with the receipts of their garbage licenses. The cards tell the housewives to save their waste paper, old rags, scrap metal, old rubber and bottles and other glass. The housewives have three alternatives by which they can save the waste materials. They may place them with their other garbage and trash (preferably in a separate container), donate them to charitable and other organizations or sell the materials to dealers. It was pointed out that the first system mentioned not only is simpler but also aids the city. The city recovers the material at the incinerator and sells it for $9.50 per ton. Since November, the City of Coral Gables has sold $1,273.64 in waste materials. The March receipts alone brought $236.71. Be a regular on the home front! Make regular, weekly purchases of U. S. Attend Easter SERVICES in CORAL GABLES

ON SUNDAY Jesus lives again—and with the Resurrection a new day dawns and new Hope is born. On Easter this year the world is at a low spiritual ebb. The black cloud of war hovers above us; there is no health in us—and little Hope. Easter, this year, is more significant and important to a troubled world than perhaps at any time in past history. They nailed Him to the cross and on this day He arose from the dead and His spirit lives on to eternity. Let us, on this Easter Day, come again to Jesus, resurrect our hopes and pray for a newer, brighter, better world—a world in which Christ, and the fellowship of man, play an important part. Let us all join in the great rejoicing that is Easter, raise the symbol of new Hope and spread the feast of good Hope. Victorine Blanchard EDITOR'S NOTE—This message was made possible by one who has shared the blessings of Our Lord and who hopes that all will follow where He leadeth.
