"Little Season" Launched at Country Club Tonight

Black Tie, Formal Gowns To Highlight Thanksgiving Eve Buffet and Dance

Dinner jackets and rainbow-hued evening gowns will whirl in a kaleidoscope of color when members of the Country Club of Coral Gables inaugurate the "little season" of social activities tonight at a Thanksgiving Eve buffet and dance. The event will be the first formal affair on the Country Club's jampacked Fall and Winter calendar. Members eager to have friends and visiting kin join the festive occasion will play host at cocktails and the buffet dinner which will precede dancing in the moonlit patio. Coast Guard blue will predominate at a table for ten presided over by Comdr. Allen Winbeck and Mrs. Winbeck. The Commander and his lady will be host to four fellow-Coast Guard officers and their wives. Comdr. and Mrs. Herbert Walsh, Comdr. and Mrs. Reed Hinnant, Comdr. and Mrs. Richard Baxter, and Comdr. and Mrs. Robert Shunk will be their guests. Enjoying the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Rowe at the dinner and dance will be Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Ehrhart and Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Ehrhart. The latter is Mrs. Rowe's sister. The W. Lamarr Smiths will be hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Reeder and Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Spiva. At a table for eight will be Mr. and Mrs. Arthur O. Lehfeldt and their guests of the evening, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Lanier and Dr. and Mrs. C. Russell Morgan. A foursome of friends will be the E. Rogers Eikenberrys and their guests from Coconut Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Hinds will have their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harold H. Abee as their guests. The Abees are here from Oakridge, Tenn., where that (sh-h-h-h!) bomb project was—and still is being—developed. Mrs. Hinds said that they are also having "if" guests at their table in the persons of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Donovan. "If they can get a sitter, that is," she explained.

Members and Friends of Delta Zeta To Jive It Up at Dungaree Stomp

Hay stacks, dungarees and plaid shirts and apple cider and doughnuts will highlight the annual Dungaree Stomp to be given by pledges of Delta Zeta Sorority Saturday night at the American Legion Home in Coconut Grove. Proceeds from the "stomp" will be used to prepare Christmas boxes for children of Norway and for other projects of the National sorority. All University of Miami students—and their friends—are invited to attend the dance and stomp to their heart's delight to music of a jivey orchestra. During the festivities, which will get under way at nine o'clock, Delta Zeta pledges will crown a Straw King, the cutest couple, and the Sweetheart of Delta Zeta. The event, which made such a hit last year, will be directed by Pamela Hamester, president of the sponsoring society; Joan Neilsen, vice president; Christine Richards, secretary; and Joan Broune, treasurer. Assisting the executive committee will be Pat Beador, decorations chairman; and a dance committee comprising Peggy Orr, Joyce McEaddy, Joan Madden, Doris Parrish, Blanche Bay, Patricia June Kyle, Margaret Anderson, Gunhild Risteigen, Bobbie Lou Collins and Nancy Peeples. Tickets to the Stomp are available at the Slop Shop, University of Miami, or at the door Saturday night. The Coconut Grove Legion home is located at 2903 MacFarlane Road, two blocks off South Bayshore Drive.

Literature Group To Hear Talk By Helen Holley

Aspiring writers who are members of the Coral Gables Woman's Club literature department will be on hand Dec. 11 when Helen Holley, Coral Gables' own mystery story author, tells how to write a "who-dun-it." Mrs. Lynn Perry, department chairman, announced that a book-talk—this time by Mrs. Herschel Smith—will also feature the December 1st meeting of the group. Under Mrs. Perry's tutelage, the department this season is doing serious and interesting work. A spirited discussion characterized the first meeting when two thought-provoking articles, "Why I Remain a Negro," by Walter White, and J. B. Priestly's "The American Point of View" were read by the chairman. Both articles were published recently in national magazines.

Lieutenant Weds Gables Girl He Met When She Was A Fellow Officer in Navy

Lieut. M. Willis Morgan, USN, flew down from Washington, D. C., to exchange marriage vows today with the girl he met when she was a fellow officer in the Navy. Miss Barbara Bell Bandy of Coral Gables became the bride of Lieut. Morgan in rites solemnized at 10:30 this morning at the Church of the Little Flower. For the informal ceremony, the bride chose a street-length dress of pale aqua crepe. Her contrasting Dubonnet hat was matched by shoes of the same color, and she wore a corsage of white orchids. Miss Emma T. Schwarzenbek of New Jersey and Miami was maid of honor. Her frock of greige crepe was complemented with brown hat and accessories and corsage of Talisman roses. Lieut. Commander W. T. Faulconer of Key West, served as best man. The bride's mother was attired in royal blue with black accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations. Following the nuptials, a wedding breakfast was held at the Antilla Hotel for seven guests. The couple left immediately by automobile for a wedding trip to Washington and will visit North Carolina mountain resorts enroute. The bride, a native Miamian, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel R. Bandy of 1801 Avenue Valencia. She was graduated from Miami Senior High School and Florida State College for Women where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She met Lieutenant Morgan two years ago when she was an ensign in the WAVE's. Lieutenant Morgan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Morgan of Haynesville, La.
