By HELEN REYNOLDS, SOCIETY EDITOR Cards were in the mail this week for a tea to be given from five to six o'clock on the afternoon of December 18th by Mrs. W. Dickey Oglesby, Mrs. George J. Coleman and Mrs. Fred Diestelhorst. The party, which will have a holiday theme and a garden setting, will be held at the home of Mrs. Oglesby, at the "Mirasol," 706 Coral Way. Assisting the three hostesses will be Mrs. S. Earle Giffen, Mrs. George Corrigan, Mrs. Edwin Klassy, Mrs. Walter Atwell, Mrs. Edith Dreesbach Rowe, Mrs. Wilbur Jones, Mrs. L. W. Dowlen, Mrs. Jack Beckwith, Mrs. Vose Babcock, Mrs. Harry VanRiper and Miss Ada Holmes. Extra curricular honors are piling up on Miss Martha Bentz who is rounding out her first semester at Florida State University, Tallahassee. Martha, a slim photogenic brunet, has been tapped for the college 'Village Vamps,' and this week she was pledged to Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Martha is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto G. Bentz, 1021 Hardee Road. Because it was their birthdays Marion Perkins and Connie Sessler decided to have a kid's party and invite their guests to wear the clothes and act just as they did at those long, long ago parties when the boys pulled the girls' hair and everybody ate too much ice cream and cake. Balloons and colored lights decorated the garden at Miss Perkins' home, 536 Avenue Majorca, Saturday night for the games of spin the bottle, pin the tail on the donkey and other games. Miss Perkins wore jeans and a plaid shirt, her hair in a curl; Mrs. Sessler wore a checked gingham pinafore and braided her blonde tresses in pigtails. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pressley, Dr. and Mrs. John Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Potter, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Perkins, Mr. and Mrs. James Willing, Mr. and Mrs. David Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. William Jay, Miss Frances Brossman, Richard Tye, Dan Thurmond and Frank Sessler. * * * Mrs. Jack Beckwith of Coral Gables and Mrs. J. Holden Beckwith of Miami Beach, decided because their respective husbands were away on Tuesday attending a dentist's society meeting and dinner at West Palm Beach, they would, in turn invite their feminine friends to a "hen and biddie" cocktail and dinner party at the Indian Creek Country Club. After disposing of junior and husband, the wives did themselves up in cocktail and dinner frocks and had a grand time. Mrs. Jack Beckwith's guests were Mrs. L. W. Dowlen, Mrs. Hillard Willis, Mrs. Walter Humkey, Mrs. Karl Vetter, Mrs. W. Vass Shepard, Mrs. S. Hill Gordon, Mrs. E. V. Petrow, Mrs. Robert McGahey and Mrs. Frank Meyers. Mrs. J. Holden Beckwith invited an equal number of her Miami Beach friends.
Forty-four Youthful Guests Help Doris Pressley Celebrate Sixth Birthday
The children outnumbered the grown-ups at Doris Pressley's birthday party last Thursday but it was hard to tell just which group had the most fun. As part of the entertainment for the 44 guests who gathered at the W. A. Pressley home on 1628 SW 56 street, Mrs. Pressley had two ponies on hand. One of the ponies pulled a cart full of happy children around all afternoon, while the other pony was ridden by the youthful guests. Doris, who was six years old on that day, received a blue and white "big girl's" bicycle from her parents and, says Mrs. Pressley, she would have been quite surprised had she not received it. Although she had never ridden a bike before Thursday, Doris seemed like a veteran rider before noon on Friday.
Let's Dance---
---Riviera-Times photo by Binner SOUTH AMERICAN SAMBA was being enjoyed by Mrs. Dewey Knight and Dr. Horace L. Cartee (left) when the cameraman snapped them at a recent Century Club dance. A few minutes later, the lens caught Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin W. Turner (above) dancing cheek-to-cheek. The popular young couple were celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary at the Century Club event.

SOCIAL SCENE
The A. C. Selfs of 1901 N 4th Avenue, South Miami, know what they're going to do with themselves Christmas. They're planning to leave Christmas Eve for Lakeland where they will visit Mrs. Self's mother, Mrs. F. E. Powers. Canned chicken and fresh home-made butter are plentiful in the High Pines home of the Joseph Sanders at 6920 Hazel Street. That's because Mrs. Sanders brought them back with her when she returned from the Sanders ranch in Caputa, South Dakota recently. Before her August 5th marriage Mrs. Sanders, the former Minta Neptune, drove to Columbus, Ohio where she visited a good friend, Mrs. Candace Ashbrook. Redecorating their SW 57 Street home after the recent hurricanes flooded them out are the C. E. Thompsons. During their period of being "refugees," the Thompsons stayed with Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Clawson on 24 Avenue Alcantarra. Mrs. W. G. Blanchard, known in business circles as Louise Lewis, will be back in her office soon. Taken by illness September 4th while she was at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for a 90-day rest, Mrs. Blanchard is back at home on 236 Avenue Aledo where she has completely recovered.
