The towering six-foot-four veteran of overseas service, Mrs. Goodwin, and their sons Gregory, three, and Blake, four, expect to arrive in the Gables around January 5th, however, to spend a couple of weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Nugent at their Avenue Majorca home. En route to Florida by car, the Goodwins plan to stop off a few days in Baltimore to visit Mrs. Nugent's sister, Mrs. G. B. Hall.

By Chuck Wiley You can "ring out the old and ring in the new" for from ten to twenty dollars per couple in most of the nearby restaurants, night clubs and private clubs New Year's eve a Riviera-Times survey of the whoopee situation revealed. And this includes tax, ice water, napkins, service, favors, music and dinner. For example, over at VICTOR'S DRUM on Coral Way, the ten dollar per person charge for New Year's Eve festivities will include a special dinner, souvenirs consisting of horns and hats, and the privileges of "eyeing" a floor show and dancing. Most of the 150 reservations which the club can handle have already been taken. * * * * * AT FOX'S RESTAURANT in South Miami the charge per person is also ten dollars but there'll be no floor show to liven up your New Year's celebration. In spite of this, there'll be plenty of noisemakers on hand to enable you to furnish your own show. Dinner, including shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, sirloin steak, etc., will be served up to, and including, nine o'clock. From nine on throughout the evening a special New Year's eve supper will be served. Two hundred and fifty persons can be accommodated here. * * * * * Roast prime ribs will be the dinner feature at the COUNTRY CLUB OF CORAL GABLES. Served between nine and twelve midnight, dinner will be limited to reservations numbering five hundred. The public will have to go elsewhere for his beef this night because these five hundred include only club members and their immediate families. Guests will be furnished with plenty of noisemakers which they'll probably use in competing with Cy Washburn and his musicians. Six dollars per person will include dinner and everything at the Club, while two dollars and forty cents per person will be the "cover" charge for dancing and souvenirs alone. * * * * * A formal dance is in store for the six hundred members of the RIVIERA COUNTRY CLUB who received an engraved "invite" this week. Music for the dance, which begins at ten o'clock, will be furnished by Art Giles and his orchestra. The five-dollar-per-person charge will include, not just common ordinary ole' hats but brightly-colored top hats and clackers plus a midnight supper of either roast beef or ham, which will be served between twelve and one ayem. * * * * * Reservations numbering three-hundred are available for the party which the ANTILLA HOTEL is giving at five dollars per person. Here you may have a choice of five dinners, including turkey, roast chicken, and baked Virginia ham, or, if you prefer, you may take your dinner a la Carte. Hats and horns will be given to all merry-makers, and music will be furnished for those who like to dance. * * * * * In the dining room of the CORAL GABLES INN there'll be no special celebration, but for those of you who prefer to dine out and then retire to your homes for a quiet New Year's eve, there'll be a special dinner of either steak, turkey, duck, chops, or seafood ranging in price from two dollars and fifty cents through four dollars and up. * * * * * Joe Di Orio and his singing Spanish troubedours will compete with guests' noisemakers at OSCAR'S HASTA MANANA. Dinner will be served from eight o'clock until, and the charge per person will be not over five dollars. * * * * * At JIMMIE'S-ON-THE-TRAIL, the five-dollar-per-person minimum charge will include drinks only. If you wanta eat here that night, you've gotta pay from two dollars and fifty cents up for turkey or ham. The favors, consisting of noisemakers, hats and yo-yos, will be thrown in free gratis. Three floor shows, featuring the Watson girls, will be given. * * * * * The SKY CLUB will offer a floor show with a line of chorus girls. Dinner will be served and a five-dollar-per-person beverage minimum will be charged. Favors will be distributed among guests. * * * * * If you're one of those all-night New Year's eve celebrators, you can have your dinner and breakfast at the GABLES ELKS CLUB for only five bucks per person. Or if you just want to take dinner and dance it won't cost you but three dollars. And if you just want to dance you'll only have to pay one dollar and ten cents. The breakfast will be served at two ayem. Music for the dance will be murnished by Andy Somms and his band. Noisemakers and hats will be given to all dancers, one-meal eaters, or two-meal diners.

Day-after-Christmas Dance Planned By Home-coming Gables Collegians
Way back in the good ole' summer time, when oodles of shopping days were left before Christmas, five young Coral Gables couples decided to give a formal dance during the Yuletide holidays. Immediately they began working out plans for the dance before they had to go off to schools in various parts of the country. Since all the plans could not be completed before those school bells began ringing, letters, full of "dance plans," travelled fast and frequently between these Gableites. Now the plans are completed, the date is set, four hundred invitations have been sent out, and all that is needed to complete the picture is for the hosts to come home from school. The Riviera Country Club, decorated with Florida holly, pine, mistletoe and poinsettias, will be the scene of this formal dance December twenty-sixth from nine until one ayem. Freddy Daw, head of a group of local musicians, and his five-piece orchestra will furnish music for the young dancers. Hosts for the dance will be Miss Mary Lou Weiland, Miss Sue Adams, Miss Ann Simpson, Miss Harriet Quillian, Miss Jane Thomas, Lee Stapp, Jim Adams, Tom Mumford, Gene Ely and Staples Pierce.
Century Club Sets Dance Date
The Century Club of Coral Gables today completed plans for the festive Dinner Dance that is a yearly tradition with the organization. Dinner will be served at the exclusive club fronting the ocean promptly at eight o'clock, and will be followed by an evening of dancing, according to an announcement by Henry Clay Anderson.
