GABLES FOLK WELCOME KIN FOR CHRISTMAS

Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Ashby's Christmas will be merrier this year because their two sons are home to share it with them. The elder son, Richard, arrived yesterday from Washington, D. C. where he is a psychology teacher at Georgetown University. Here from Philadelphia is William who is practically sick over the fact that he must return home on the twenty-ninth without getting to use the tickets he has to see his Alma Mater "beat" Kansas in the Orange Bowl New Year's day. William will return to Miami on the ninth of January at which time he'll leave immediately for South America on a two or three months business trip. Joining the Ashbys for Christmas dinner today were Mr. and Mrs. David E. James and their three children, David, Jerry, and Kitty. Mrs. James is the Ashbys' daughter. * * * Mrs. T. J. Sandberg says she "could even see Coral Gables" the other night when she flew in from Knoxville, Tenn. This was her first plane trip. She is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. T. D. Sandberg at 1012 S. Greenway Drive. * * * Arriving yesterday from Tampa, was Horace Means, brother of Mrs. Edward I. Amthor. He will spend Christmas and this weekend with his sister at her Avenue Mendosa home. * * * Home to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Wells, are Felicia and Clifford Wells Jr. Felicia attends Florida State University at Tallahassee, while Clifford is a student at the University of Florida at Gainesville. When the call comes through, she'll be at the home of another son, Joel C. Wilcox, and his wife where she will have Christmas dinner.

Miss Doris Snow Christmas "snow" was scattered merrily today at the family dinner of Captain and Mrs. George W. It was the first inkling of the betrothal of Doris and Earl Jay Weaver, Jr., of Lake Wales. At the dinner were Doris' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Emmett Ahearn, Jr., just back from their honeymoon trip to Havana. Their marriage was an event of Saturday. Christmas Day comes but once a year and Mrs. Ruth Jacob, 548 Avenue San Esteban, doesn't want to waste a minute of it. After having Christmas breakfast and exchanging gifts with her husband and children, she boarded an Eastern Airlines plane at nine-thirty this morning for Baltimore, Maryland, where she will spend the remainder of Christmas Day with her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Wooldridge. And what will really be a surprise is the fact that the Wooldridges have no idea that their daughter is going to be able to wish them a Merry Christmas on the right day. This flight today will be Mrs. Jacob's first plane trip. She'll return New Year's Eve in time to spend New Year's with her family.
