Name __________________________________ Address __________________________________ Telephone __________________________________ Category (check one) Most Beautiful [ ] Most Original [ ] You can let others share your outdoor home Christmas lighting display this year by entering the contest sponsored by The Guide and the Coral Gables Board of Realtors. The Guide will run the names of all entries in the contest. In that way, Southwest area residents will have a guide to outstanding displays. Deadline for entries is Midnight, Dec. 21. Enter your home now. The contest rules are simple. Any home in the Southwest area is eligible, except those owned by employes of The Guide and the Coral Gables Board of Realtors. Entries will be judged in two categories: Most Beautiful and Most Original. The object of the contest is to encourage Yule lighting exhibits in keeping with the season and to invite residents of the area to view the displays. Originality and ingenuity will be scored heavily by the judges. The amount of money spent on displays will not be the main factor in determining a winner. Sterling silver awards and honorable mentions will be announced for each of the two categories. First, second and third prizes will be awarded. In addition, here are a few more rules. 1. Decisions of the judges are final. Announcement of the winners will be made in The Times on Dec. 29. 2. Entries must be made on official Entry Blanks and mailed to The Guide, 308 Aragon Coral Gables, or to the Coral Gables Board of Realtors, 367 Alhambra Circle, Coral Gables. 3. Entries must be lighted between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., Dec. 22 through 29, when judging will be done. Winners and honorable mentions must agree to keep displays lighted for the same period and through Jan. 1 to allow the public to view winning displays. 4. Decorations will be judged on Artistic Merit, Originality, Lighting Techniques and Ingenuity. Only decorations that can be seen frm the street, roof tops or windows are to be entered. 5. The contest is for residential property only.

5 Years Of Research Gablelite Bases Book On Christ, His Teachings

by JOHN SHAPIRO The gap between architect and author may sound formidable to some, but not to Dr. Upton Clary Ewing, 362 Minorca Ave. Dr. Ewing, a member of The American Institute of Architects and designer of many buildings here including the Fuller and Parsons Buildings, is the author of a new religious book "The Essene Christ". The book, which is the result of over five years of intense research into the historical background of early Christianity, deals with the relationship between Christ and His teachings and the ancient Essene sect from Judea. Four Parts The work is divided into four parts, or books and contains recent discoveries from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Dr. Ewing considers "The Essene Christ" to be must reading for every Christian. Interviewed at the Ewing Gallery, in Coral Gables, the doctor confided that he alternates his house slippers between feet because it allows the heels to wear down more evenly. Paintings, Sculpture The Ewing Gallery, which is built around a secluded patio and pond, features paintings and sculpture by the doctor and a large organ that his wife, Loris, plays for concerts. This year the Ewings plan to have Christmas entertainment at the Gallery. Dr. Ewing is also a Metaphysician associated with the International New Thought Alliance and an ordained minister whose religion teaches that all men are sons of God and members of a great universal brotherhood. "The Essene Christ" will soon be available at local book stores.

Sunrise Harbour Asked To Show Need For Buses

City buses will roll in Sunrise Harbour in the near future, if the service proves warranted. The Coral Gables City Commission instructed City Manager L. W. Robinson Jr. last week to find out if the service is needed and to find a way to provide it if it is. Meanwhile, a request to the Sunrise Harbour Association for a report on their needs has fail to reach the Commission. The Association recently requested bus service to the downtown area and had been asked to furnish information on their request. Transportation Director Chester Smith reported to the Commission that he had no additional equipment to service the area. The Commission, however, indicated that it will seek to provide the transportation somehow is some need can be shown.

Granada Golfers Elect Officers

J. Peter Pizzagalli, former member of the City of Coral Gables Zoning Department, has been re-elected chairman of the board of governors of the Granada Golf Association. Pizzagalli, who lives at 2320 NE Seventh, Ave., is an insurance agent with offices at 110 Giralda. Pizzagalli's re-election came at a meeting of the association held Nov. 9. Full cooperation with the City on the coming Professional Golf Tournament was pledged. Secretary Victor H. Eskenas was instructed to contact city officials to offer the organization's help. The organization, facing a problem of rapid expansion, also decided to limit membership to 140. The group now has 130.

Choir To Sing Yule Contata

The senior choir of the Coral Gables Baptist Church will present a Christmas Cantata, "The Melody of Christmas," by Franz Schubert, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. The choir, directed by Matt James Bolyard, will feature soloists Frances K. Biro, soprano; Wilton R. Giles, tenor; and Joseph K. Koeval, tenor. Narrators will be Ruth P. Forbes and James H. Dumas. Frances Land Williams will provide organ accompaniment. An invocation will be delivered by the pastor, Dr. Ladislau Biro. The youth choir will present a concert of Christmas carols Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
