James Quinns Take Florida Honeymoon

MRS. JAMES JOSEPH QUINN On a honeymoon tour of Florida are Mr. and Mrs. James Joseph Quinn, following their Dec. 3rd wedding at the Church of the Epiphany. The bride is the former Nancy Marie Sinnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Sinnes of 7815 SW 54th Ave. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Quinn of 6257 SW 12th St. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin floor length bridal gown designed on princess lines with moulded bodice, round neckline accented in French lace and long point-on-hand sleeves. The back of the bodice was closed with tiny satin covered buttons from neck to waist and finished with a small satin bow. The voluminous skirt, caught in a pouf at the back, fell into a chapel train. Her voluminous shoulder length veil of imported French tulle was held in place with a crown of seed pearls. She carried a spray of miniature white carnations centered with two white orchids. Maid of Honor Miss Mary Elizabeth Quinn, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Carol Suzanne Sinnes, sister of the bride, and Miss Eleanor Simmons of Gainesville. They wore identical ballerina length gowns of electric blue satin with fitted bodies and overskirts of matching blue organza. Their accessories, hats and shoes matched. They wore white gloves and carried sprays of bronze mums. The maid of honor carried gold mums. Paul A. Quinn, brother of the groom, was best man. Ushers were John F. Quinn, Thomas M. Quinn and Richard A. Sinnes brother of the bride. The Rev. Geremiah A. Crowley officiated at the 11 a.m., candlelight double ring ceremony. The reception followed at the Catalonia Club. Mrs. Sinnes, mother of the bride, chose a ballerina length gown of champagne brocade satin. Her hat, shoes and handbag were pink. She wore a pale pink orchid corsage. Mother of the bridegroom wore a sheath dress of roast pure silk lace and her accessories, hat, shoes and gloves were in a soft moss green. Her orchid corsage was pale purple. The bride carried a white lace handkerchief carried by the groom's mother at her wedding and a pair of pearl rosary beads given to her by her grandmother. Among out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. George Mulholland of Springfield, Pa., and the following Floridians; Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Mathis of Tampa; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. McMenamin and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tabone, all of Ft. Lauderdale. The bride was graduated from the Gainesville High School, Gainesville, and attended the University of Florida. The groom was graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School and attended the University of Miami. The couple will make their home at 592 NW 38th Pl., Miami.

Low Net Is The Game For Women Golfers

Members of the Women's Golf Association, Country Club of Coral Gables, met in low net tournament played in classes Friday over the nine hole course, and the total story looks as if Class B pushed Class A -just a little. There were 42 members out for the rounds. In Class A, Mrs. J. B. MacMurray won first with a 371⁄2; Mrs. T. L. Snyder was second with a 381⁄2 and Mrs. G. E. Smith was third with 391⁄2. In Class B, Mrs. Leland Lee was first with a 37; Mrs. Clifford Snyder and Mrs. William Hartnett tied with a 39 for second place. Mrs. Estell Van Arman with a 381⁄2 won first in Class C, and three players tied for second place with 411⁄2. They were Mrs. Phil Cannell, Mrs. Robert Grant and Mrs. E. W. Lawson. Mrs. Charles Cavanaugh placed with 42. The members will assist in the upcoming Professional Golf Tournament, selling tickets and other jobs.

Flowers At Vizcaya

Local garden club presidents under the direction of Mrs. Henry Michaels, 5210 SW 5th Ter., who personally organized five adult garden clubs in the area, supervised the flower decorations for the annual Vizcayans Ball held recently at Vizcaya.

News Of The PTA | Meetings To Have Holiday Themes

By EUNICE TALL MO 1-2294 December begins the holiday seasons. For most of the PTA's in the Coral Gables-Southwest section the December PTA meeting is a holiday type program. And the students present the programs for the meetings. * * * The play, Dickens' "Christmas Carol" will be performed by drama students for members of the South Miami Junior High School PTA, Dec. 20, 8 p.m., in the school auditorium. Members of the drama department will be in charge of the entire production. This ranges from publicity to the building of sets for the performance. The program is directed by Mr. C. S. Hartley, teacher. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria following the program. The same play will be presented to the student body of the school the following day in an assembly program.

Phi Sigma Mu Welcomes 15 New Members

Nu Phi Mu Chapter of Phi Sigma Mu, national non-scholastic sorority, welcomed 15 new pledges, all from Coral Gables, at the chapter's meeting held at a tea Dec. 4 at the home of Mrs. Maudie E. Cook. Each was presented a pledge pin. Miss Dorothy Serna, sponsor and Mrs. Hernerta Leonardy, international honorary member of PSM, were also present. New members include: Marsha Vernellie, Carol Basl, Bonnie Zimmerman, Patricia Lattiere, Patty Gaynor, Barbara Robson, Margaret Jennings, Shiela Wadsworth. Also, Noel Shaffer, Marsha Kassellman, Jean Sutherland, Mary Ann Hancock, Patricia McLaughlin, Donna Retallic and Charlene Ashley.

June Wedding Bells Will Ring For Her

MISS SMITH Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bristol Smith, 666 University Dr., announce the engagement of their daughter, Janet Mason, to William Nickerson Walker of Newton Highlands, Mass., on Thanksgiving Day. A June wedding is planned by the couple. The bride-elect is a senior at Smith College, Northampton, Mass. She was graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1957. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roswell B. Mason of Winnetka, Ill., and of Mrs. Gilbert M. Smith of New York City and the late Mr. Smith. She is also the great great granddaughter of Roswell B. Mason, who was mayor of Chicago at the time of the great fire. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nickerson Walker of Newton Highlands, Mass. He was graduated cum laude from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn., in June 1960, and is currently attending the University of Virginia's School of Law, Charlottesville, Va.

Spaghetti Used For Decorations

Spaghetti and its uses as Christmas decorations was the topic of a demonstration for the Coral Pines Garden Club's annual Christmas workshop. Following the demonstration, the club held a luncheon and regular business meeting at the home of Mrs. Edwin Strickland, 12401 Rock Garden Lane. Co-hostesses for the luncheon were Mrs. S. D. Staton, Mrs. C. W. Winterbottom and Mrs. R. L. Parker.
