More Publicity for Coral Gables Derived Through N. E. A. Visit

Repercussions from the visit last month of members of the National Editorial Association, to Coral Gables, where they were entertained during the afternoon at the Coral Gables Country Club by City officials, are carried in several newspapers published by some of the visitors and received by the Riviera and Chamber of Commerce. The latest compliment paid to Coral Gables city and Chamber of Commerce officials and other citizens making their brief stay a pleasure, is carried in the Marinette, (Wisc) Eagle-Star of which Frank E. Noyes is editor, in which he stated in part that "the party was entertained at the Coral Gables Country Club, where the attractive surroundings of beautiful tropical shrubbery and trees will long be remembered. The fine dinner served by City and Chamber of Commerce officials was followed by an interesting program of speeches, music by the Ponce de Leon high school band, and singing by the high school pupils". Judging from the newspapers received by the Riviera and the chamber of commerce from various sections in which the visit to this city was carried, the money and effort put forward by sponsors of the affair were well rewarded in spreading the beauties of Coral Gables broadcast in over 200 newspapers in the United States. The articles printed are the personal views of the various editors and is wonderful publicity.

Summer Inquiries Show Increase

An increasing number of housing inquiries from potential summer vacationists are being received by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce according to Alvie S. Lindborg, Secretary. "Each year more people in other states are being 'sold' on this section as being ideal for summer vacations", Mrs. Lindborg stated, 'and our chamber of commerce has always felt that additional effort and money spent in other cities in the Spring should attract more people down here during the summer months".

VOTE FOR Andrew T. 'ANDY' HEALY

City Commissioner JUNE 10, 1941 Paid Political Adv.

Tommy's Bar

WHO To Vote For and WHY

JOE WHITLEY For Mayor | WALLACE BELL For Commissioner | DENNIS CRAY For Commissioner | JUDGE THOMAS MAYES For Commissioner | Because Their election means LOWER TAXES. It has been demonstrated the past two years that tax assessments can be reduced. Every dollar saved in the conduct of our city's affairs during the next two years will lessen the burden of ever-growing State and Federal taxes. Practical economy is the pledge of this unified group. Because Their election means GOOD GOVERNMENT. In two short years an efficient City Manager has saved the City thousands of dollars in the operation of its transportation system—by abolishing the city garage—in the erection of an incinerator and in countless other ways. Backed by a unified City Commission, this program of efficiency and economy will gain further impetus. Because Their election means PROGRESSIVE GROWTH. From 1938 to 1940 our building permits increased SIXTY-ONE PERCENT. The assurance of a sane and economical administration will inspire still greater confidence in the prospective home owner and investor, and insure added growth and prosperity, and finally, Because THEIR INTEREST IS YOUR INTEREST. They live and labor here among us. Each one is imbued with the ambition to make Coral Gables the ideal home city. Under their leadership Coral Gables will go forward to new heights of civic achievement.
