Presbyterians Plan Promotion
The Sunday school of the First Presbyterian Church will hold its annual fall graduation at 9 A.M. Sunday in the church school under the direction of Mrs. H. E. Sudlow, director of religious education. Always an outstanding affair, the children from the nursery department through the high school age will be promoted. Primary children, going into the junior department, will be presented with Bibles. Mrs. Howard L. Gardin, superintendent of the nursery school, announces the following graduations for Sunday: Carol Jean Deith Rempe, Scott Ellis, Billy Morningstar, Albert Gregory, John Wade Mason, Carolyn Yoakley, Ann Methvin, Marilyn Mathews, Kathleen Koch, Joanne Crooke, Irma Smiley, David Hall, Diane Charles, Joanne Antes, Barbara Loomis and Walter Wayne Hewitt. Mrs. Jennie B. Ellis, superintendent of the beginners' department, will graduate twelve to the primary department. They are: Carolyn Fuller, Marjorie Flammer, Junie Stevensen, Susanne Street, Patricia Sullinger, John Robert Peters, Billy Rempe, Jack Unruck, Elizabeth Betts, Bobby Sweeting, Joanne Frost and Bobby McDon-ald. From Mrs. Tom Johnston's primary department to the junior department go ten. They include Arthur Lee Mussellwhite, James Rawlings Sandberg, Mary Ann Batcheller, Meegan Welch, Eddie Norman, Peggy Johnson, Betty Hogan and Geraldene Tanhersley. Mrs. Alice Thompson, superintendent of the juniors, will send the large number of thirty into the intermediate department. It's Graduation Day Sunday For Methodist Sunday School
Promotion day will be held in the First Methodist Church at 9:45 Sunday, with a special program of graduation being planned. The beginners' class, with Miss Ann Bethune, superintendent, will graduate into the primary class under the direction of Mrs. Malcolm McDonald. Mrs. McDonald's class will graduate into the junior department, with Mrs. S. S. Wheat superintendent, in charge. The young people's department, under the direction of Thomas Perkins, will receive the graduates from the junior department. D. H. Redfern is the beloved teacher of the adult Bible class, which meets in the church auditorium. The pastor,Carlock Hawk, has chosen at his text for the 11 A. M. service, "Changeless Christ." The young people will meet in the Epworth League at 7 P. M. under the direction of Mrs. S. M. Perkins.

LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF HEARINGS OF OBJECTIONS TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE CORAL GABLES CANAL AND WATERWAY AND YACHT BASIN, ASSESSMENTS AGAINST ABUTTING AND BENEFITED PROPERTY AND THE COST THEREOF, AND OF HEARING ON OBJECTIONS TO THE ACCEPTANCE BY THE CITY OF SAID WORK AND IMPROVEMENTS.
Notice is hereby given and all property owners hereby notified that on Tuesday, September 30, 1941, at 5:00 o'clock P. M., in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Coral Gables, Florida, the Commission of The City of Coral Gables will conduct a meeting to hear objections on the part of affected property owners on the preliminary assessment roll, the waterways improvements herein described consisting of the matter of defraying the cost of the following improvements: Dredging a channel from the Biscayne Bay, westerly along the Coral Gables Canal to South Beach Road Bridge, the widening and deepening of the canal or waterway from Biscayne Bay to the mouth of said canal or waterway. The property deemed to be benefited and subject to assessment for the cost of said improvement is all that property lying and abutting upon: (a) The Coral Gables Canal or Waterway and Yacht Basin from the easterly mouth thereof upstream and northwestward to the south-easterly boundary of the South Dixie Highway (South University Concourse); and, (b) The Tamiami Canal or Waterway from its juncture with the Coral Gables Canal, westerly and northwestward to its present terminus at Tamiami Canal. all in accordance with latest existing plats of record. The cost of said improvement, which has been determined to be $20,502.09, less $11,433.95 secured by the City from the Federal Government as a WPA project, leaving a net cost to be assessed against the abutting and benefited property of $9,068.14; provided, however, that no property shall be assessed in an amount exceeding 75c per front foot and the City at large will assume any cost in excess of that maximum. Resolution No. 2262, adopted August 12, 1941, ordering said improvement to be made and in accordance with a petition of a majority of the property owners affected, was subject to the execution of said work by the City. The assessment for said improvement may be paid in full without interest on or before December 31, 1941; or, at the election of the property owners, provided, however, that all future objections to the assessments are expressly waived in writing, they may be paid in ten successive annual installments with interest upon the unpaid balances at 6% per annum, provided, however, that such waivers must be filed and the first 10% installment must be paid on or before December 31, 1941. Views of affected property holders may be expressed in person at the hearing, or may be filed in writing with the Commission prior to the hour of the meeting. G. N. M., in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Coral Gables, Florida, the Commission of The City of Coral Gables will conduct a meeting to hear objections on the part of affected property owners on the matter of defraying the costs of repaving certain streets in Coconut Grove Warehouse Center, Golden Gate Subdivision, and MacFarland Homestead Subdivision, as more particularly described in Resolution No. 2262, adopted August 12, 1941. The said improvement consists of repaving said streets with a total length of 16 feet, and with a width of 3,510 feet, at an estimated cost of $5,910.84, of which $950.65 is to be borne by the City at large as being the cost of paving the intersections, and $4,960.19 is to be assessed against the abutting and benefited property and lands. The assessment will be 25.9c per front foot. The streets included in said improvement are: Brooker Street; Florida Avenue; Frow Avenue; Grant Drive; Industrial Avenue; Jefferson Street; Jefferson Drive; MacFarland Avenue; Short Avenue; and Washington Drive; and the affected property is that which abuts upon said streets, all in accordance with latest existing plats of record. The assessment for said improvement may be paid in full without interest on or before Dec. 31, 1941, or, at the election of the property owners, and if all present and future objections to the assessments are expressly waived in writing, they may be paid in ten successive annual installments, with interest upon the unpaid balances at 6% per annum, provided, however, that such waivers must be filed and the first 10% installment must be paid on or before December 31, 1941. Views of affected property owners may be expressed in person at the hearing, or may be filed in writing with the Commission prior to the hour of the meeting. G. N.
