Troup No. 7's meeting was opened with Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Boy Scout Oath and Law was given also. Patrol reports were checked and all men were accounted for. A very good patrol stunt was put on. Business was discussed. A Patrol contest will be in full swing next week, and I'll tell you all about it in the next addition of the Riviera. Our swim team which won the annual Boy Scout Meet, will soon have some competition with the Y. M. C. A. Swim team. Games were played and scout mastery was shown in the Circle of Friendship with Scoutmasters Benedictoin. John Peacock-Scribe

Coral Gables Riviera Coral Gables Florida: Gentlemen: On Friday, November 7th. I advertised for rent an apartment in Coral Gables and the next day, through your ad, it was rented. This compares most favorably with advertising of Coral Gables rental properties which I have done in papers outside of Coral Gables. For best results, in the future I shall do all my advertising of all Coral Gables properties in our own Coral Gables paper. Respectfully yours. ROSCOE BRUNSTETTER

Citrus Leading Florida Crop
Florida Supplies Strawberries to Nation in Winter Winter grown strawberries find their way to market from Florida farms from November to June and are successfully grown in practically all sections of the State. The commercial crop for northern markets is confined largely to the following counties: Hillsborough, Polk, Hardee, Bradford, Union, Manatee and Sumter. Practically all types of vegetables can be grown successfully if proper attention to location and type of soil is first considered. The phenomenal growth of the vegetable industry in Florida can best be illustrated by the following data: In 1891 Florida produced 161 carloads of snap beans with a value of $112,822. For the season 1939-40, 9,237 carloads f.o.b. at $7,732,360. In 1891 Florida produced 938 carloads of tomatoes valued at $325,226. For the season 1939-40, 10,701 carloads valued at $8,814,150. In 1898 Florida shipped four carloads of celery and during the season 1939-40 there was produced in the State a total of 9,846 carloads, valued at $5,317,300. The first store in Coral Gables was built in July, 1922. The production of citrus is the leading agricultural industry of Florida, representing an investment of $325,000,000 to $400,000,000 with rail, boat and trucked-out shipments averaging 27,621,458 boxes and together with canning fruit and State consumed 36,039, 695 boxes with an average gross value of $50,112,628 (1930-31 to 1939-40). Acreage is estimated at 325,000 for oranges, grapefruit and tangerines. Some other types of citrus such as satsumas, limes, lemons, kumquats and miscellaneous hybrids of some importance are not included in these figures. Almost every county in the State can grow some type of citrus. Citrus in West Florida is largely confined to production of satumas. Florida orange rail, boat and trucked-out shipments have increased from 600,000 boxes for 1884-85 season to 26,704,499 in 1938-39 season. 1939-40 shipments were only 19,094,568 boxes due to adverse weather conditions. Grapefruit shipments increased from 12,000 in 1884-85 to 11,317,063 boxes in 1938-39, but dropped to 6,110,591 in 1939-40. Canning operations and State consumed account for greater and greater tonnage. Shipments usually begin in September and extend through, June and into July. Florida ranks first in the United States in the production of Grapefruit; second in Oranges, and first in the production of Tangerines.

FLYING PRIEST
Flying enthusiasts are found in every walk of life. In Brazil the Aero Club of Caxias enrolled as one of its flying students Rev. Eugenio Giordant of the Sao Pelegrino parish in Rio Grande do Sul. Statistics show that during the U. S. Navy training period recruits gain an average of almost ten pounds as a result of good food, exercise and regular hours.
