F. B. I. 'Borrows' Gables Officer
Sergeant William Kimbrough of the Coral Gables Police Department has been "borrowed" by the F. B. I. for active duty and has been granted a leave of absence, City Manager A. B. Curry reported yesterday. Kimbrough, who was trained at the National Police in Washington, will leave December 29 for the capital for additional training with the F. B. I. How long Kimbrough will be gone from the department is not definitely understood, Curry pointed out, but it is thought that he will remain in the F. B. I. service for the duration if the war. Kimbrough will be the second Officer to leave the force for war service, the first being Carf Whelan, who is now a sergeant in the military police.
WALTER SHIKANY HAS UNIQUE PARTY
Walter Shikany entertained at one of the season's unique parties Tuesday at the home of his parents, 1245 Coral Way. Invitations sent in rhyme style bid a group of boys to a football party, at which the famous "Krutulis, Petroski and James" were referees and umpire for their game. Present were Jack Phillips, Joe Schneider, Jack Stahl, Billy and Jimmy Bennett, Billy McShane, Billy Vogt, Grady Jones, Doug Phillips, Drew Healy, Walter and Clark Jones Lee Pearson, Danny Stewart, Tom Fitzgerald, Joe Lawson, Aubry Melton, David Pearson and Bert Stahl.
NEW ACTS SCHEDULED AT TePEE NIGHT CLUB
Postponing their winter season show opening one week, until Christmas night, the Tepee has instead, installed Will Mahoney, Jr., "Sunny" Brooks, Carol Lane and Jacquelin Dawn in as entertaining a quartette of acts as has yet been seen at this spot. Mahoney is the son of the famous and original Will, while Jacquelin Dawn comes to the Tepee direct from Chicago's Chez Paree. Carol Lane is a pretty little blonde dancer and "Sunny" Brooks sings sad and sophisticated songs to her own accompaniment on the piano. Hal Rous' entertaining orchestra continues to supply the music for dancing, and their original entertainment, but the biggest news of the week is the imminent opening of the Tepee's kitchens under the supervision of the well-known Curley of the Continental.
GIRL SCOUT NEWS
Troop 13 started its weekly meeting with the Laws and Promise, followed by a discussion of what to do after Christmas. We decided to study air raid precautions. After the business we made some hot cocoa and enjoyed ourselves. Last Saturday we practiced carols with the other troops of the Gables at the Scout House for Sunday, under the direction of Mrs. J. S. Sherman. Later, we did some work on our lean-to. Sunday we had a very lovely dedication of the Girl Scout Little House, fish chowder was served, the troops sang carols and everything was very nice. Next week we are meeting at Colonnade to practice for the Court of Awards. Lulu Sherman Scribe
