Coco Plum Club to Play Santa to Kendall Children | Members Will Gather Gifts At Christmas Party, Program Next Wednesday Afternoon
Christmas gifts for a "Kendall boy" or "Kendall girl" will be distributed by children of the Coco Plum Kindergarten in a new and novel departure from the old "Santa Claus" way when members of the Coco Plum Woman's club stage their annual Christmas party and play Wednesday in the clubhouse. Mrs. Fred Ravlin is chairman of the program which will start at 2:30 p. m. As club members forming the cast of "Only a Bright Gift" unfold the touching story with a religious theme, children trained under the guidance of Mrs. Brooks Leffingwell will present the gifts. The gifts will be given to the Kendall children at Christmas, as the annual Yuletide gesture of Coco Plum club members. Those taking part in the play are Mrs. John M. Bostwick, Mrs. John Gautier, Mrs. E. V. Woodard, Mrs. William Reinhardt, Miss Alice Hughes, Mrs. R. M. Munroe, Mrs. Tyler Bliss and young Tommy Chivers and Johnny Fiske. Also on the program will be vocalists Mrs. Rome Wayne and Roy Cropper, well known for his singing part in "Oklahoma." They will sing Schubert's Ave Maria in duet. Assisting Mrs. Ravlin are Mrs. W. Scott Jones, co-chairman; and Mrs. Robert Dorn, Mrs. H. E. Rothwell, Mrs. John A. Fiske, Mrs. F. Russell Briggs, Mrs. L. D. Llewellyn, Mrs. John M. Bostwick, Mrs. J. Bruce Hayden, Mrs. D. Juniors who have "adopted" the Crossnor School in the mountains of North Carolina as their year's project. Mrs. Berney Good, extreme right, checks over the used clothing that will be mailed to Crossnor with Mrs. Fred Diestelhorst. At left, Mrs. Andy Somma packs down the Christmas box, while Mrs. John Brons, chairman of the Juniors asks if she can't squeeze in just one more hat. The D.A.R. committee plans to pack several more boxes before Christmas, and promises to call for any used clothes Gableites have to offer via telephone to Mrs. Good, project chairman.

Later faculty members and their wives and husbands will dance to the music of Don Glazzard's Legion Serenaders, an orchestra composed of war-veteran students from the 20th St. Center. A group of specialty numbers will provide entertainment during intermissions. Mrs. Ralph L. Sackett of 631 Avenue San Esteban (48-9096) will receive dinner reservations until December 14th.
