'The Star Crown' Will be Topic Of Rev. Fritsch

"The Star-Crown" is the Christmas message at the 11 a. m. worship service of the Country Club Christian Church, 1009 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd., worshipping in the Woman's Club building adjoining the Public Library, Coral Gables, by the pastor, the Rev. Harvey John Fritsch. "The heavens always declare the Glory of God, but at no time has the declaration been more dramatic than it was that night long ago, when in the constellation Libra the heavenly light shined so brightly. The light that shined 'round about His head became His crown-as the King of Kings." The choir will sing, "Thy Light Is Come" by Nolte, featuring the rich, tenor voice of Tom Gilson. Dean Russell Rasco will sing the solo, "The King's Highway" by O'Hara. Charlotte Hicks, brilliant young soprano, will sing, "O, Holy Night" by Adam. Holy Communion will be observed.

Hagler to Preach Christmas Message

A Christmas sermon will be delivered by Rev. Albert Dale Hagler at the 11 a.m. worship service of the Bryan Memorial Methodist Church this Sunday. His topic will be "Make Room For Christ." During this service, a nursery will be conducted for small children by the Adult Class. Sunday School will convene at 9:45 a.m. "The Story of the Nativity," a Christmas pageant, will be presented at the church at 6 p.m. by members of the choir and the Church School. Because of this, the regular scheduled Young People's group meetings will not be held.

Christ Loyalty Is Keynote at Presbyterian

The spirit of consecration and commitment of loyalty to Christ as the true Christmas spirit will be emphasized this Sunday at the Gables Presbyterian Church, 39 Avenue Zamora. At the 11 a. m. worship service, Dr. Larson will speak on "His Name Shall Be Called." During this service, new members will be received into the membership of the church. At the 7:30 p. m. service, the church will have its first Christmas candle lighting service. Held out of doors in the patio of the Merrick Demonstration School, the story of the Nativity will be brought by a voice, in the person of Robert Larson, speaking off stage in the words of the classic King James Version of the Holy Scriptures. The manger scene, with Joseph (Fred Bassett III) and Mary (Kathleen Derry) will be presented on the porch of the second story of the school. The Nativity story will be interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols by groups of children and the entire audience. At the close of the service, a lighted candle will be given to everyone present and the entire audience will sing Bliss' "The Light of the World is Jesus." Candle lighters will be Barbara Feidelson, Betty Bouvier and Alice Jo Larson, assisted by Marjorie Summerfield. The young men of the Young People's Class will serve as ushers. This service is open to the public.

Music Is Feature At 1st Christian

Miss Mary Lou Thomson, coloratura soprano will sing "Jesu Bambino" by Yon at the special Christmas service Sunday morning at the First Christian Church. The choir will render Handel's "Nazareth" from the Messiah and Miss Aileen Stiffler will sing "He Shall Feed His Flock." Mrs. Ruby Pierce Jackson, choir director, will also sing "Come Unto Me." The Sunday school will have a special Christmas service given by the younger department. At eight o'clock, the "Christmas Story" will be given with musical background by the choir.

Christian Science Lecture Topic

"IS THE UNIVERSE, INCLUDING MAN, EVOLVED BY ATOMIC FORCE?" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon which will be read in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world on Sunday, December 21. The Golden Text is: "The word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth . . . For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast" (Psalms 33: 4, 9). Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting" (Psalms 93: 1, 2). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "The material so-called gases and forces are counterfeits of the spiritual forces of divine Mind, whose potency is Truth, whose attraction is Love, whose adhesion and cohesion are Life, perpetuating the eternal facts of being" (293:13-16).

Sparling to Tell True Xmas Meaning

In observance of the fourth Sunday in Advent, Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8 a.m. this Sunday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 1121 Avenue Andalusia. At 11 a.m. Dr. Christopher Sparling will deliver a morning prayer and sermon entitled "The True Meaning of Christmas." Church School convenes at 9:30 a.m. The Senior Adult Class, under the direction of Dr. Dismukes, meets at 10 a.m. Under the leadership of Commander Bryan, the Junior Adult Class also meets at 10 a.m. Young People's Service League will meet at 7 p.m.

'Coming of King' To Be Presented For Methodists

"The Coming of the King," a Christmas cantata by Dudley Buck, will be presented at the Coral Gables First Methodist Church this Sunday at 11 a. m. This cantata tells the ancient Christmas story from the time of Isaiah's prophecy to the adoration by the Magi. It will be presented by the choir, under the direction of Mrs. C. H. Neill, and the organist, Miss Lillian Braden. The choir of some thirty voices will use as its processional "Adeste Fideles," after which will follow the morning hymn and the pastoral prayer by Dr. J. H. Daniel. "Noel" by Dudley Buck will be used as the offertory. At the request of Chaplain Boston at the Biltmore Veterans Hospital, the choir will repeat the cantata for veterans at the hospital at 7 p. m. Sunday. Beginning at 7:45 p. m., the Young Group of the church will present a Christmas drama, "The Gifts," by Dorothy Clark Wilson. This drama is composed of imaginary scenes from the boyhood of the Master. John Allen Metts will play the role of the boy Jesus. Mrs. V. M. Searls, who is now a member of the Miami Little Theatre and who has played in Little Theatre groups in Palo Alto, Calif., and in Key West, will portray the boy's mother. The role of the father will be played by A. Glenn Waters, educational director of the church who is also directing the drama. Other members of the cast include Mrs. George Dixon, John Law, Fred Inge, Earl Howard, Dick Dougherty, Ernest Wolff, Bobby Paige, Kitty Pankey, and Gene Neil. Special music will also be featured during the evening service.

University Baptists To See Playlet

The call to worship at the University Baptist Church at 11 a.m. this Sunday will be "Come Let Us Adore Him." The choir will sing "Come and Worship" by Wooten and "Calm on the Ear of Night" by Sears. Dr. Ladislau Biro will deliver the message. Members of the church, with the assistance of the choir, will present a Christmas playlet at the evening worship service at 7:45 o'clock. This playlet, "Coming of the King," which is adapted from the work by Dorothy L. Sumerau, is under the direction of Mrs. Kenneth B. Forbes. At this service, members of the Sunday School and church will present their "White Gifts of canned food or money. The food will be given in Christmas baskets to needy families, while the money will be sent to the Florida Baptist Children's Home.

Spirit of Xmas Is Catholic Theme

"Spiritual Preparations for the Celebration of Christmas" will be the general theme this Sunday at the Church of the Little Flower. Masses will be celebrated at 6:30, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 a.m. During the 9 and 10 o'clock masses, the Society of the Little Flower sponsors a nursery for small children in the newly completed kindergarten of the church.

Morgan to Deliver Christmas Sermon

"No Room For Him In The Inn" which is a Christmas sermon, will be delivered by Rev. Frank C. Morgan at eleven o'clock Sunday morning at the South Miami Baptist Church. During this service, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wyatt will be dedicated to the church. Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a. m. Ralph Edwards is superintendent of the entire church school. Under the directorship of Albert Molina, the Baptist Training Union will convene at 6:30 p. m. An annual Christmas pageant, put on by 45 children from the Dade County children's home, will be presented at the church at 7:30 p. m. Miss Marie Kilbride, director of music at the home, is in charge of this presentation.

S. Miami Church Plans 'Festival Of Lights'

Rev. Carroll H. Varner will speak to the congregation of the First Methodist Church of South Miami at 10:45 this Sunday on the subject of "By Night to Bethlehem." Mrs. Braden Hayes will be the soloist in the presentation of the anthem, "The Sanctus," by Gounod. During this worship service, Miss Elizabeth Rogers will conduct a nursery for preschool children in the church parsonage. A nursery for tiny tots, who are too young for the Sunday school classes, is conducted in the parsonage each Sunday morning at 9:45. Miss Sue Allard is in charge of this nursery. For the first time since Rev. Varner has been pastor of the church, a Christmas "Festival of Lights" will be presented Sunday evening between 7:30 and 8:30 o'clock. At the conclusion of special music by the choir and carols by the church members, each member of th ccongregation will be given a small lighted candle. Members will proceed into the yard of the church where they will form a circle for the benediction. Soloists taking part on the program will be Mrs. Clayton Acker, Mrs. Alyse Clift, Mrs. Braden Hayes, and Hobart Miller.

Rev. Ray to Read 'Birth of Jesus'

For six years, the Reverend George McNeill Ray, pastor of the Coconut Grove Baptist Church, has read the Bible story of the "Birth of Jesus" in more than one thousand homes, visiting the shut-ins and shut-outs; with members of his churches, as well as those who were not members. This year Mr. Ray will carry out this same plan. Mrs. Wilbur Rodgers, W.M.U. president is re-ceiving daily requests for the minister to come visit their homes to read the Eternal story. Pre-Christmas music by the choir, under the direction of William Folwell, will be given this Sunday at the church and Mr. Ray will also observe the pre-Christmas season in his sermon topic, "Another Way Home." The church is located at 3226 Virginia Street. Its pastor and members cordially invite strangers to come and worship with its sanctuary. Every visitor is an honored guest.
