It's Their 5th Birthday

Loew's Riviera will celebrate it's 5th Anniversary with the opening of Ray Stark's technicolor production of "The World of Suzie Wong" with William Holden on Wednesday, February 1st. The Riviera has several top pictures booked to follow "Suzie Wong", "Pepe" will open around the first of March starring Cantinflas, Dan Dailey, Shirley Jones and a guest cast of 35 stars. Dean Martin and Shirley MacLaine open on March 30th in a Paramount release entitled "In A Night's Work." As part of the Riviera's anniversary celebration for this top attraction from Paramount, they are inviting anyone whom may be celebrating their 5th Wedding Anniversary to be their guest between February 1st to Feb. 7th. All you must do is present your marriage license at the theatre for guest admissions.

Ballet Is American Jazz

During a concert tour in Poland, Mr. Brubeck composed for the Polish people a piano piece entitled, "Dziekuje," or "Thank You." It is jazz in the style of Chopin. At the request of Miss Krupska, Mr. Brubeck composed orchestral variations on this theme, constructed and styled in the sectional form of Chopin's "Les Sylphides." The ballet is completely American Jazz in both music and dance, encased in a classical form. In seven movements, the ballet tells the story of The Boy and The Girl: I. The Boy is in search of a girl. II. He sees her but cannot reach her. III. He is distracted by The Other Woman. IV. When his companions have paired off happily he is still alone. V. He dances in loneliness and sorrow. VI. He meets The Girl and they fall in love. VII. They are separated by the crowd, but eventually find their way back to each other's arms.
