Citizens Association Will Get Out The Vote
A plan to saturate every residence in Coral Gables with mail circulars urging the people to register and vote in the coming April 11 Municipal Election was announced Monday by the Coral Gables Citizens Association. Carl Turkington, president of the recently created civic organization, said that personal and telephone calls will also be made to many residents eligible to vote but not registered. The Deadline The deadline for registering is 9 p.m. March 11 at City Hall, Turkington pointed out. If you are already registered to vote with the city and have not moved or changed your status, you need not re-register. Many residents are under the impression that being registered with the County is sufficient, but since there is no joint registration, separate registration with the city clerk's office is necessary. The city clerk's office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on March 8, 9, 10 and 11 will be open until 9 p.m. Opposed Apartment Turkington's group is an off-shoot of the Committee for the Preservation of Present Zoning Ordinances which organized to fight a proposed 12-story high rise apartment at 720 Biltmore Way. The Citizens Association has broadened its field to include all civic matters in Coral Gables. Candidates for the City Commission are to appear before the group to outline their platforms at a future meeting.

Sunrise Harbour Claims It's Too Crowded
The Coral Gables Planning and Zoning Boards are going to tackle the problem of density in the Sunrise Harbour section, the City Commission decided Tuesday. Members of the Sunrise Harbour Association have complained recently about parking and lot coverage requirements which they claim are causing a density problem in the new subdivision. The association recently opposed construction of a six-unit apartment on Lot 8, Block 2 on the north side of Edgewater Dr. by Herman Brown because of the parking problem and ground coverage. Clifford F. Gould, president of the association, said that failure to change lot coverage will hurt the city's zoning reputation.
