Four Foreign Dogs Coming To Biscayne
A "world first" for Florida's most popular spectator sport Biscayne Kennel Club's world greyhound championship May 20, already has drawn entrants from at least four foreign countries. James C. Knight, president of South Florida's pioneer dog track, said the lineup against the United States' best now includes Australia, Italy, England, and Ireland. Leslie Reynolds, Great Britain's foremost racing greyhound trainer, is schooling a sextet which comprises an Anglo-Irish team. Colin Cunningham, a young Melbourne (not the Florida City) sportsman, is flying-in a pair of speedsters from "Down Under" to represent Australia. They are due in Miami next month. Dr. Mario Bellotti, Rome motion picture tycoon, has entered another duo from Italy, including the 1960 champion of continental Europe. The title chase will follow a Championship Week climaxing April 29, with the 18th running of the All-Florida Championship. The state crown winner automatically qualifies as a United States challenger against dogs imported expressly for the $15,000 added championship event. Big time greyhound racing continues nightly, except Sundays at the North Dade Dog track. Post time is 8 p.m. Clubhouse reservations are suggested, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. State law bars minors.
Friendly Bar Ownership Transferred
Ownership of the Friendly Bar, 2611 Ponce de Leon Blvd., is being transferred from Gladys May Turner to Malcolm and Gloria Jones. The Coral Gables City Commission last week approved the transfer of the establishment's beer and wine license.

Crowds Throng Flower Show
The first public flower show of the Coral Gables Garden Club was pronounced an unqualified success by hundreds of visitors from all over South Florida. Just short of 3000 flower lovers thronged to the exhibit during its two day run in the Masonic Temple last Friday and Saturday. Almost 500 viewers jammed the aisles and filled the outside patio during the spring fashion show which was staged on Saturday afternoon by members of the Retail Merchants Division of the Chamber of Commerce. With Juanda McCallum of Pygmalion as narrator, 13 models displayed Florida fashions for every member of the family from tots to grandmothers. Tired but exuberant officers of the Garden Club are already laying plans for a more ambitious show next year.
