Scotty Good Celebrates 5th Year with Belated Party | ORIGINAL BIRTHDAY CAKE FEEDS HUNGRY HURRICANERS
Scotty Good Celebrates 5th Year with Belated Party ORIGINAL BIRTHDAY CAKE FEEDS HUNGRY HURRICANERS SCOTTY AND MOTHER —Pilkington Photo Neither a disappearing birthday cake nor vanishing party favors marred the belated birthday celebration of Bernard Scott Good Jr., who entertained 45 of his fellow kindergarteners Monday at a party in St. Theresa's kindergarten. Scotty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard S. Good of 3401 Granada Boulevard had been promised a big blow-out for his Sept. 17th birthday, the day he would be five years old. Birthday cake large enough to cut 50 pieces had been ordered. Paper caps, favors, candles for the cake and all of the paraphernalia incident to a bang up party. Came the day, and Scotty wanted to know if all that rain and roar outdoors was the big blow his daddy had promised him. On Thursday Mrs. Good went to the local bakery to pick up the ordered cake for a Friday party, only to find that, because of the blow, the cake had been cut and sold to demanding hungry hurricane refugees. Monday she could only obtain eight smaller size cakes. One was reserved for the birthday cake and hastily decorated by the baker. Arriving at the school, Mrs. Good found, to her dismay, that the party favors had vanished—they were found later in the packages reserved space for the overseas relief. But the candles were never found. Borrowing church candles a resourceful photographer cut them down to the required size to fit the cake and host Scotty lustily blew out the five candles for his 45 guests.
