LOWER NO MAN'S LAND Lois Davis Wears Orchid As Gift From De Molays By DOT THAGARD Riviera-Times Correspondent

That lovely orchid, Ponce Senior Lois Davis, has been wearing is a gift from the De Molays in appreciation of Lois' lovely singing at their fraternal meetings. This very talented young vocalist is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Davis of 710 Avenue Obispo. Lois is now working on a repertoire' of more popular compositions to be sung between halves at the next Ponce football game to be held at the Orange Bowl. Bay Home Here Newcomers in this area are Mrs. O. H. P. Kenny and her son, Dick, who have purchased the home at 707 Avenue Obispo. Dick, after serving two years in the Navy, is now studying at the University of Miami Law School. Among other University Students on Obispo are "Chickie" Jacobsen who, with her Mother, lives at 712. Chickie is a Sophomore this year and a member of Delta Theta Sorority. Barbara Boyer is another student at the Coral Gables University, entering this year as a Freshman, and majoring in Art. Barbara, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyer, and sister Patty, live at 610 Obispo. We are happy the Haynesworth's will be with us while awaiting completion of their new home in Coral Gables. Lisa, Holly and Roger Haynesworth are attending Coral Gables Elementary School, and young Johnny is going to Nursery School Mrs. Rowe Home Mrs. John T. Rowe is home again at 409 Avenue Zamora after an extensive trip to Atlanta, Baltimore and Washington, ending with a wonderful vacation of several months in Highlands, North Carolina (where it would seem Coral Gables must spend the summer). Mrs. Rowe's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Rowe, with young Nelson Jr. are here for a weeks visit. Nelson is Contact Officer of the Veterans Administration of Atlanta and is representing that organization at the Marine Cavalcade, which takes place in Miami this week. All you long time residents of the Gables and of the outlying sections remember back a few years, in 1928, when after days of rain, the streets of the Gables and this area were flooded, and the Granada Golf Course for two weeks was a wonderful place to go canoeing, and the old toomerville trolley had to be rerouted, because the water around the City Hall on Biltmore Way was so deep, it could not get through. What grand progress has been made since then to keep the water down, when now after days of torrential downpour there are very few wet spots left. How fortunate we all are to be a part of this progress. Well, Dot's Dot, today.
