CHRISTIAN IMPERATIVES Rev. Fritsch To Discuss Them On Sunday

"Christian Imperatives" is the message of the 11 a. m. Sunday Worship Service at the Country Club Christian Church, 1009 E. Ponce de Leon Boulevard, worshipping in the Woman's Club Building adjoining the Public Library. "There is a vast difference of opinion as to what constitutes the 'whole Gospel of Christ,'" says the Rev. Harvey John Fritsch. "Who can say that his interpretation is right and another's wrong? There is little difference of opinion, however, on the central verities of the Gospel. Such questions as man, sin, atonement, resurrection, and others, are held in accord by the major bodies of Christendom. It would seem that if we were to emphasize our points of agreement rather than our points of disagreement, the cause of Christ would be advanced immeasurably. Alfred North Whitehead has said truthfully that religions commit suicide when they find their inspirations in their dogmas. There is one such central verity that needs to be emphasized today, namely, regeneration, or 'Ye must be born again.' The minds and souls of men and women are sick unto death. They need the Spiritual Therapy that Christ would have us offer them in His name." The choir, under the direction of Roland E. Ruppert Sr., resumes its fall schedule this Sunday, and will sing "Onward, Christian Soldiers" by Bishop. Miss Charlotte Hicks will be soloist.

Grade classes for all ages are conducted in the church school which begins at 9:30 a. m. Youth Fellowship meets at 6 p. m., with a well-planned program for young people of high school age. Also meeting at 6 p. m., is an intermediate group of Pioneers, for girls and boys from 10 through 13 years of age. This group meets in the church manse. Rev. Cumming's subject for the evening service this Sunday is "Jesus Christ: The Beginning and the End of Life."

The Golden Text is: "He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal" (John 12:25). Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee" (Psalms 73:24, 25). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "The real man is spiritual and immortal, but the mortal and imperfect so-called 'children of men' are counterfeits from the beginning, to be laid aside for the pure reality. This mortal is put off, and the new man or real man is put on, in proportion as mortals realize the Science of man and seek the truth model" (409:20).
