Granada GOLF By ANNE RANDOLPH
All the Granada regulars remember Tommy Rambo—he was with Dud Atkinson for nine years here. It's been two years since we've seen him around the pro shop, but now he's back in his old job and everyone is greeting him wholeheartedly . . . And from that broad grin of his, it seems he's delighted to be back, too. He always had a ready ear for your kicking or your bragging and a lot of good advice for the beginners. This past summer Tommy was at the TAM O'SHANTER in Chicago . . . so welcome home, Tommy, we're glad to see you back. Mr. and Mrs. Philip R. Shuler are here again from Wichita, Kansas. This is their third winter in Coral Gables, and they are on the tee bright and early every morning. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Foulis were seen on the course twice this week . . . a lot of people envy her golf swing. Do you suppose that we could pry Mrs. "Umps" Clark from her knitting long enough to play nine holes? Maybe after Christmas she'll be back out there more regular again. Everyone is saying that the course is in better condition than they have ever seen it. "Umps" has just finished planting winter rye and it should be up in five to seven days. The greens fees are now $1.50. In the Men's Golf Association Tournament, Frank Sessler won by default from J. Campbell and A. C. Randolph reached the finals by beating Bill Gorman, 4.3. We were over with "Umps" looking over the Biltmore layout the other day and the improvements are really adding up. Women golfers will be pleased to learn that a powder room addition is being built to the ladies' locker room . . . the pro shop, newly painted, looks real nice and fresh . . . and the City Parks' crew are laying concrete walks to the Club house to give access without passing through the hospital.
