Betty Hightower Is Bride of J. W. McConnell

McConnell and Miss Betty Hightower which took place at eight o'clock last night. Dr. Nevin H. Schaaf performed the double ring ceremony witnessed by a large group of relatives and friends. Mrs. Frederic S. Youngfelt played a program of nuptial music preceding the ceremony, and the wedding marches. Mrs. Paul Kemp was matron of honor. Her pale yellow brocade frock was made with round neck, small puff sleeves and deep floor length full gathered skirt. Her headdress of matching mailne fell waist length and she carried a sheaf of pink roses. The pretty bride wore a pink brocade gown with full sweep skirt and deep boat-shaped neckline with net inserts at the shoulders. Pink bows of the material formed the brief sleeves. Her veil of finger-tip-length net was attached to her head with a halo of the net outlined with seed pearls. She carried a hand bouquet of orchids tied with wide pink ribbon. She was given in marriage by Henry C. Mount, uncle of the bridegroom. A reception followed immediately after at which the bride and groom posed for pictures cutting their wedding cake while the groom's father and most of his cousins, all excellent photographers, focused their cameras and flashed light bulbs. The refreshment table, an antique maple, was laced with the beautiful Christmas vine and gleamed under the light of candles in silver candelabra. Mrs. McConnell, the bridegroom's mother, wore a black lace and crepe gown. Mrs. Edward Thelan, cousin of the groom, kept the bride's book. Mrs. S. C. Thompson presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. L. M. Thompson and Mrs. S. C. Thompson Jr., all cousins of the groom, assisted in serving.
