Claghorns Wed In Lutheran Rites

On a Florida wedding trip with destination, Cleveland, Ohio, where they will reside are Mr. and Mrs. Charles David Claghorn, following their wedding Saturday at St. James Lutheran Churh, Coral Gables. The bride, the former Sandra Joy Cotton, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wellington Cotton, 5990 SW 50th St. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lesley Claghorn of University Heights, Ohio. Bride's Gown Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore floor length white delustered satin gown designed with fitted bodice, three quarter sleeves and boat neckline. Embroidered Swiss lace medallions enhanced the bell skirt, the back of which swept into a chapel train with large cabbage rose of the satin at the hemline. Her voluminous veil of white silk illusion was shoulder length and fell from a crown of seed pearls. The bride carried her mother's white Bible covered with white orchids and carnations. Mrs John Daniel Busey of Cutler Ridge, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Susan Sprague and Thelma Graham. Little Miss Debra Busey, niece of the bride, was flower girl. They wore idential gowns of emerald green peau de soie, made ballerina length with full skirts, draped neckline and brief sleeves. Cabbage rose headpieces with emerald green tulle trim completed their costumes. They carried cascades of white carnations. Flower Girl The flower girl's gown, made of the emerald green peau de soie, had a full skirt with ruffles of the material trimming neckline and sleeves. She carried a nosegay of white flowers. Fred Vantaggi of Cleveland was best man. Ushers were Steve Claghorne Jr., brother of the groom, and Joe Cotton Jr., brother of the bride. The Rev. Earl Hively officiated at the 4 p.m. candlelight service and the couple pledged their vows in double ceremonies. Mrs. Glenn Scott, godmother of the bride, was organist and Anne Marie Hirning was soloist. The reception followed at the home of the bride. White Orchids For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Cotton wore a royal blue peau de soie sheath dress with graceful over skirt. Her accessories matched and her corsage was white orchids. Mother of the groom chose a champagne lace sheath dress with matching shoes. Her headpiece was beige trimmed in coral. She wore white orchids. Among out-of-town guests at the wedding were Caroline Lassen of Toledo, roommate of the bride at college, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Claghorn and two young sons of St. Ptersburg and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Lemke of Cleveland. Native of Miami The bride, a native Miamian, is the grand-daughter of the late W. A. Spain, one of the pioneers of Coral Gables.
