Miss Pohnl Will Marry W. F. Purnell

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Pohnl, 6731 SW 14th St., announce the marriage of their daughter, Gloria Ann to William Francis Purnell, with the United States Army stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Purnell, 6080 SW 17th St. The wedding was planned to take place in Columbus, Ga., after which, the couple will take a wedding trip to the Florida Keys, before the bridegroom-elect leaves for overseas duty.

Miss Rood, Mr. Summers Are Married

On a honeymoon trip around the state of Florida are Mr. and Mrs. Ronald L. Summers. They were married Saturday at Sylvania Baptist Church. The bride, the former Miss Karen Ann Rood, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Rood, of 12555 South Dixie Hwy. Mr. and Mrs. M. Summers, of 1760 NW 88th St., are parents of the groom. The couple spoke their vows at 7 p.m. with the minister, Dr. Douglas Johnston, officiating. The reception followed in the church reception room. The bride's gown of white peau de soie, with long train, bouffant skirt and fitted lace bodice, was designed and made by the bride. Her voluminous veil fell from a crown of pearls, and her only ornament was her string of pearls, the gift of the groom. Her flowers were a cascade of white and yellow orchids. The bride's four attendants wore gowns made alike, of white eyelet over yellow slips, with matching gloves, shoes, yellow hat and carried white and yellow flower nosegays. They were Mrs. Earl Putmall Jr., matron of honor; Miss Sanda Carter, honor maid; Miss Kathy Butler, Jr. bridesmaid and Miss De De Johnston, flower girl. Robert C. Rood, brother of the bride, was best man. Ushers were Leonard Poole Jr. and David Johnston. Mrs. Rood, mother of the bride, wore a green silk sheath dress, with yellow accessories and corsage of yellow rosebuds. Mother of the groom was in beige, with cocoa brown trim, matching hat and shoes, and her flowers were yellow rosebuds. The bride attended Redland Junior High School; Southwest High, and South Dade High Schools. The groom attended Madison Junior High School and graduated from Miami Technical School.

Club Elects Mrs. Burns

Mrs. Robert Burns is the new president of the Coral Pines Garden Club. Officers were seated in recent luncheon ceremonies, at the Hasta Manana. Mrs. Frank Nichols a past president, Dade Council of Garden Clubs installed the officers. Mrs. Richard Sherwood was named first vice president; Mrs. Robert L. Casey, second vice president; Mrs. Charles Fancher, third vice president. Mrs. William C. Crandell, recording secretary; Mrs. Dolores Criswell, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. W. A. Williamson, treasurer.

Rummage Sale Set at Goulds

Zeta Phi sorority, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, will hold a rummage sale June 3 starting at 7 a.m. at the South Florida Packing Company in Goulds. There'll be a selection of women's, men's and children's clothings, household goods and other assorted items. Proceeds will go to the sorority's treasury.
