Musical Will Help Children
"Kadimah Kapers," a musical show written, produced, directed and presented by the campers and counselors of Camp Kadimah, will take place Tuesday Aug. 8, 7:30 p.m. This show, one of the major events of the camp season, will feature singing, dancing and acting abilities of the campers. It will be held at the Miami YMHA Branch, 450 SW 16th Ave. All proceeds will go to the scholarship fund to help send needy children to camp. One of the highlights of the evenings program will be a drawing of a cruise for two to Nassau abroad the SS Florida. There will also be color movies shown of the children participating in camp activities. Refreshments and a bake sale will conclude the evenings program. Camp Kadimah is the summer program for children of the Southwest YMHA, a branch of the Greater Miami Jewish Community Center.
HOSPITAL APPOINTEE
Nathan B. Rood, 845 Catalonia Ave., has been appointed chairman of the Coral Gables Committee for Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. A longtime construction executive in this area, Rood will spearhead a fund-raising drive throughout Coral Gables to help complete the $4,500,000 Cedars Hospital, now under construction.
MRS. LOUIS ALPER, 5865 SW 100th St., and Mrs. E. L. Cotton Jr., 11847 SW 81st Rd., accept an award from Kerbert Kimmel civil defense coordinator for the South Miami Hospital Women's Auxiliary. The women are co-chairmen of a civil defense training project and are working toward 100 per cent auxiliary participation competition.
These Men Met 50 Times
The Coral Gables City Commission must rate as the meetingest. Approximately 50 meetings—including regular, conference and budget meetings—have been held by the Commission since three new commissioners took office in April. These have included breakfast, lunch and dinner meetings and one meeting convened at 11 p.m. and lasted until 1 a.m. Most of the sessions were designed to acquaint Commissioners C. L. Dressel, Franklin Evans and George Wilson with the operation of the city. The Commission will get a six-week vacation following the Aug. 1 meeting and will not meet again until Sept. 12.
