Sandra Jean Suarez Now Mrs. J. J. O'Day III
Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Suarez, of 10401 SW 62nd Ave., announce the marriage of their daughter, Sandra Jean, to John Joseph O'Day III. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. O'Day Jr., 6538 SW 60th St. With the blessing of his Holiness, Pope John, the bride and groom pledged their vows in a nuptial mass Saturday at the Church of the Epiphany in South Miami. The Rev. John O'Dowd officiated, assisted by Rev. Richard Hartnett of Tampa and the Rev. Thomas Clifford of the Aquinas Student Center, UM Coral Gables. The bride wore a white silk, peau de soie gown floor-length, embroidered in Alencon lace and beads; the gown designed and made by her mother. She carried a bouquet of Calla lilies. The seven bridesmaids and two flower girls wore matching floor-length gowns of emerald green satin and carried corsages of red chrysanthemums and Florida holly. A reception for 500 guests followed the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents. The couple met while attending Coral Gables High School. The bride attended Florida State University. The groom was graduated in June from the University of Miami, where he was a member of the varsity football squad. He was a member of Iron Arrow and is in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. After a honeymoon in Haiti, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Coral Gables.
Lowry Weds Girl From Los Angeles
Dr. and Mrs. Lee R. Jeppson of Los Agneles, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Marilyn Jeppson, to James Robert Lowry Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowry of 1033 Sorolla Ave. Mr. and Mrs. Lowry flew to California for the Dec. 30th wedding. The 8 p.m. ceremony took place at the Temple of the Latter Day Saints in Los Angeles, and with the L.D.S. president Banjamin Bowring officiating. The bride designed and made her own gown created of white peau de soie and trimmed only in tiny, self-covered buttons. She carried white orchids. There were 30 guests and the reception followed at the home of the bride's parents where a wedding supper was given. During supper there was violin music by Leon Larson and Eleanor McChesney, friend of the bride, and piano selections by Leon Larson, fiance of the bride's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Holbrook gave vocal duets and a prayer for the bride was given by Mrs. Joel G. Sedgwick. Christmas decorations were used throughout the house. The wedding cake was served from a small circular table tied with aqua bow and silvered leaves traditional in the faith. Both the bride and groom are senior students at Brigham Young University, where the groom is majoring in business administration and the bride in art education. They will reside in Provo, Utah.
