Johnson, a Wisconsin native, has served in Florida since 1962, first in the St. Petersburg area, then as Associate Minister in Winter Haven and Melbourne, and finally obtaining his own congregations in Orlando and Ormond Beach. Rev. Johnson and his wife Kathy, who works as a floral designer at the Shops of Kendall, are part of a group of local Methodist ministers and their wives who meet monthly to hash over their mutual problems and frustrations, as well as to boast of their respective accomplishments. Rev. Johnson is an avid photographer and camper, and enjoys combining the two hobbies by taking pictures of wildlife encountered on family camping trips. He and Kathy are also smitten by tennis fever, and she plays with Winston Park team in the South Florida Women's Doubles Tournament. The Johnsons have two sons, Kenny, eight and Kevin, six, who attend Winston Park Elementary School.

Coral Park school sponsors walkathon

Coral Park High School's Environment Action Group, is sponsoring a walkathon for Tom Bonner on Saturday, Dec. 11. Tom, a recent graduate of Coral Park, had an accident while diving from Haulover Pier three months ago, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. The walkathon will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., at Coral Park, 8865 SW 16th St., and the walkathon route will begin and end at the school. Anyone wishing to take part, can pick up a pledge sheet in the activities office, room 159. The "Circle" band will entertain and there will be free sodas and hamburgers for the first 500 walkers.
