Youth remains critical after shooting accident
A West Dade youth is in critical condition following an accidental shooting Thursday evening. Loren Hoadley, 4641 SW 102nd Ave., was shot in the lower stomach at a friend's home at 6 p.m. The friend, 16, and Hoadley, 19, were in the friend's bedroom at 4967 SW 129th Ct. when the shooting occurred. The minor told police that he was sitting on the bed talking to his girlfriend on the telephone while Hoadley was lying on the bed. The minor had picked up a .410 shotgun and was toying with it during his conversation. The gun discharged, the minor said, hitting Hoadley who was only about three feet away. The minor said he panicked but he did call the police after Hoadley told him to do so. A rescue squad was called and Hoadley was taken to American Hospital.
