Sticky Conscience For Sticky Fingers

A conscience-stricken thief returned the loot during Christmas week, Coral Gables police revealed last week. The unknown burglar returned money and personal l[?]ers to two Coral Gables [?]idents, according to Lt. Don Clermont. Mrs. Roger W. Herwig, of 2717 Anderson Rd., whose home was burglarized and her mail box rifled Dec. 7, reported that the thief sent her a $20 bill, three credit cards, two insurance checks and a voter registration card from New York City. Postmen went to some troub[?] to deliver the second letter to Eugent T. Castiglione, of 921 Calbira Ave., when the thief failed to indicate the address but described the home. Castiglione reported getting two $10 bills, also in a letter datelined New York City. "Sorry — taken by mistake with apologies," wrote the repentent thief.

PEOPLE

Dr. and Mrs. Ed Preston answered the door at 3:30 a.m. at 1215 Alhambra Cir. last week. It was their son, Noel, arriving home for the holidays f[?]n Emory University near [?]anta where he is a second year medical student. He had troubles with his foreign-made car and had to limp in. He'll be here until Jan. 2. Speaking of the Prestons, we hear that the doctor has moved his offices from the Dupont Building to the Miracle Building in the Gables into the quarters occupied by the late Dr. Sam Mosley. Robert Leonard Kuyper, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Kuyper, of 1411 Pizarro St., has been named to the Merit List of Emory at Oxford, Ga. Oxford is a division of Emory University. Frederick T. Sterling III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick T. [?]rling Jr., of 3900 Ponce de Leon Blvd., is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt at Mayport, Fla. A radarman third class, USN, Sterling was aboard the carrier sent with other ships to cruise off the coast of the Dominican Republic, during the recent political crisis of that nation. Terry McMillan, one of our [?]nes carriers, won't be with us in 1962. Terry and his mother, Mrs. Charles McMillan, 424 Malaga Ave., are returning to her hometown, Manchester, Ga., this week. They plan to stay there until school's out and then take a trip to California. Says Terry, "Then we'll decide which we like best —Miami, California, or Georgia."
