Photographs by Raymond Lang It was down to the canal in ships last Friday night as a band of Girl Scouts paddled canoes through the Gables singing Christmas carols. Girl Scout Mariner Ship No. 46 sailed down the canal from Riviera Drive and Ponce de Leon Boulevard, opposite the fire station, to Bird Road. The trip took about one hour. Troop leader is Mrs. Louis Germain, 12200 SW 68th Ct. Her husband supervised the seven-canoe expedition. Linda Meyers, 547 Alhambra Cir.; who belonged to the troop and now attends Texas Christian University, paddled one canoe. Girls on the trip were Sharon Capra, 7850 SW 112th St.; Carol Hagglund, 1136 Andora Ave.; Susan and Gail Hanson, 9375 SW 116th St.; Gloria and Carol Germain, 12200 SW 68th Ct.
