Grand Union Addition Is Top Permit

An $80,000 addition to the Grand Union Super Market, at 1906 Ponce de Leon Blvd., brought last week's building permits to $159,000 after a slow week. Other permits went to James Dougherty, at 4700-4716 Le Jeune Rd., for a five-unit, one story office building, $32,000. Mac Johnson, 2001 Segovia Blvd., addition, $3,000. Jerome W. Halpern, 6810 Gratian St., pool, $3,000. Sun Oil Corp. 1955 Bird Rd., canopy, $2,000. Rovin Construction Co., 11072 Manfero t., pool, $3,000. Howard Johnson, 1450 S. Dixie Hwy., addition, $1,000. A. FORMER Gableite J. K. Jamieson has been named one of three executive vice presidents of Humble Oil & Refining Co. He will continue to be a director and member of the company's executive committee at Houston. Jamieson lived here until last spring and was president of International Petroleum Co. Ltd., a Jersey Standard Oil Co. affiliate here.

Private Planner's Counsel Sought on Rovin Request

The City Commission has thrown the problem of what to do with Sol Rovin's request for 150 apartment units at Hammock Oaks, subdivision to Rader Associates for their recommendation. Rader is scheduled to sit down with the Commission Jan. 8 for a conference to bring the City up to date on its survey of zoning and planning needs. The planning consultants are primarily concerned with the high rise building problem, but have been given several other areas to work in such as traffic, recreation, parking, utilities, overall zoning and land use by the Commission. Rovin is seeking to build 11 apartments on a 10-acre tract facing an artificial lake under construction at Hammock Oaks.

Peeping Tom

A peeping tom, apprehended at gun point by an irate Gables resident, received a $300 suspended sentence in Municipal Court Dec. 19. William Wermeling, 19, of 6201⁄2 Minorca Ave., a sophomore engineering student at the University of Miami, was found guilty by Judge Charles Spooner. He had been charged in an affidavit filed by Gerry Hudson, of 504 Navarre Ave., who apprehended Wermeling at gun point Dec. 17.
