Chill Fails To Deter 28 Golfers at CGCC
The final tournament of the year for the Coral Gables Country Club's Women's Golf Association drew 28 contestants despite Friday's chilly weather. It was a blind draw affair, with contestants not knowing ahead who their team mates would be. Making up the first team were Mrs. Robert Hanna, Mrs. D. Stanley Burke, Mrs. Lewis Cook, and Mrs. Richard Wallace: They won with a 1491⁄2. Second team which scored a 152 were, Mrs. Tony McCrack-en, Mrs. Belle Mathers, Mrs. Robert Horne and Mrs Richard Wallace.

University Baptist Setting For Carolyn Lay Wedding
MRS. RICHARD STRAW The University Baptist Church of Coral Gables was the setting Dec. 29, for the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Richard William Straw. The bride is the former Miss Carolyn Sue Lay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Thomas Lay, of 6910 Mentone St. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd William Straw of 6401 SW 47th St. Given in marriage by her father and mother, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white peau de soie with lace trim long sleeves and chapel train which she designed and made herself. Her short volumunious veil fell from a crown of pearls and she carried white roses, and a white handerchief which had belonged to a great great aunt. The Rev. T. Rupert Coleman officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony. Mrs. Benny H. Stephens, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Rachel Pinkston, cousin of the bride, and Miss Frances Anderson were bridesmaids. All wore white peau de soie gowns and carried red poinsettias. William R. Boger Jr., brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. Dan Evans, fraternity brother of the groom, and Roy Pinkston, cousin of the bride, were ushers. The reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. The bride was graduated from Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority and is a graduate teacher in Baltimore County, Maryland. The groom is a graduate of Florida State University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and Alpha Kappa Psi, business fraternity. He is with the Howard P. Foley Co., in Baltimore, where the couple will reside after their wedding trip in the Eastern United States.
