Bride On Surprise Trip
On an undisclosed wedding trip, a surprise to his bride, are Mr. and Mrs. Garry Alan Christena whose wedding took place Sept. 30 at Rader Memorial Methodist Church. The bride, the former Patsy Willis, is the daughter of Mrs. Lillian L. Todd, of 6430 SW 5 Ave., and David Lee Willis of Asheville, N. C. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Christena, of 1160 NE 140th St., North Miami. Bride Carried Carnations Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white lace over taffeta gown with matching three quarter length jacket and matching white shoes. She carried a nose gay of white carnations with pink sweetheart roses, and her brief veil fell from a half crown of white ribbon bows. June Landon of Hialeah, the maid of honor wore a pale pink broacaded taffeta gown with matching shoes and gloves and a carried a pink carnation nosegay. John E. Christena, of North Miami, was best man for his brother. The Rev. Charles Ed Warren was the officiating clergyman and the couple pledged their vows at 8 p.m. in a double ring candlelight ceremony. Reception Followed The reception followed the nuptials and was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents. The mother of the bride wore a beige lace gown with matching accessories and white carnations corsage. Mother of the bridegroom wore a sheath dress of beige with matching jacket and white carnations corsage. Among the out of town guests were the bride's paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Willis, of Waycross, Ga. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High School and is a member of Beta Sigma Phi, naitonal non-scholastic sorority. The bridegroom is a graduate of Miami Edison High School and a member of the Order pf DeMolay, fraternal organization. MRS. GARRY ALAN CHRISTENA
Costume Ball To Be Held By Beaux Arts
Beaux Arts of the Joe and Emily Art Gallery, University of Miami has announced the name and date of its annual fund raising costume event to be called "Masterpiece Ball." The ball will be held Dec. 3 at the Indian Creek Country Club. Mrs. Walter T. Etzel Jr., and Mrs. Richard B. Adams are co-chairmen of the affair. Beaux Arts was founded in 1952 with 50 charter members to aid in promoting local interest in art and support to the nice gallery. Today the membership has more than doubled the original 50 and in addition numbers eight life and nine associate members. Another yearly event at the gallery held in the late Spring is its annual "Clothesline" sale of paintings an all day event held in the beautiful gardens of the Gallery.

Mrs. Wolfe To Address Club
Martha Owen Wolfe, Dade County Civil Defense co-ordinator for the Department of Health and Welfare will be the guest program speaker, today, when the Woman's Club of Coconut Grove meets. Entering its 70th year the Woman's Club, formerly the Housekeepers Club 2985 South Bayshore Dr., will begin a new schedule of hours. The business meeting will be held at 11 a.m. with a covered dish luncheon at noon. Theme of the program at 1 p.m. will be "Keep the Fires of Freedom Burning."
Esther Kopeiman Enrolls At Chatham
Beginning her four years of study at Chatham College, Pittsburgh, Pa., is Esther Jane Kopelman, 1421 Garcia St. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Kopelman. As a member of the class of 1964, Esther is also a member of the 90th freshman class in the history of Chatham. She is a graduate of Coral Gables High School.

New Engagement Calendar Out
The Engagement Calendar, annual publication of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, edited by Mrs. Frank W. Hewlett, of 2406 SW 23rd Ter., is just off the press. The new calendar, filled with color plates as well as black and white is not only beautiful and practical but it contains many choice tips for horticulturists and flower arrangers. Mrs. C. R. Mayes Jr., of Pompano Beach, president of the Federation, is proud of the many talented members throughout the state whose flower arrangements appear in the new calendar. The calendar is sponsored by the federation and is of service to all Garden Clubs in the State. Cover design of the new book, in sea green and black with white printing, is by Mrs. George B. Secrist of Cassia Garden Club, Fort Lauderdale, and is typical of the east coast. Entitled "Down by the Sea," Mrs. Secrist used a composition of coral, cacti, green bananas and sea grapes.
Maddern Recital At Music Club
David Maddern, pianist, will be the guest recitalist Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Musicians Club of America, 303 Minorca Ave. Maddern will present Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mompou and Debussy numbers in his program. Presently on the staff of the Miami Conservatory of Music, Maddern appeared at the Threefold Auditorium in New York this past summer where he was well received. His interpretation of the music of the French composers is particularly pleasing. He also gave concerts in Boston, Hartford and Chicago.
Carnival Set At Gables Elementary
Coral Gables Elementary School Parent Teacher Association has set the date of its annual carnival for October 26. This year the venerable school the first elemntary school to be erected in Coral Gables will be celebrating its 35th anniversary. Room mothers of the school held their first meeting last Wednesday and were welcomed by Mrs. Robert Jarvis, president of the PTA and Mrs. Bertha Webb, principal of the school. Mrs. William Briggle, room mothers representative outlined instructions and Mrs. Vivian Andre, program chairman, announced the theme - "Here, Only the Best Is Good Enough." Five interesting and timely PTA programs have been planned.
