November And Turkey Just Go Together

By ANN BLUMENTHAL CA 1-1377 November is synonymous with turkey, and the order of the day is dinner with all the trimmings. Every year at this time the PTA's in the community have a complete turkey dinner for the entire family. It is the time of the year to rejoice with friends and neighbors, so join your PTA and be neighborly. Everglades Elementary School PTA is having its 4th turkey dinner on Nov. 17. There will be a full course dinner with all the trimmings. Adults will dine for $1.25 and children for 75 cents. Tickets must be purchased in advance, on sale Nov. 3 at the school. Room mothers will sell tickets. Chairmen are Libby Straus and Betty Breslow. Olympia Heights Elementary School PTA is having a family fun day on Friday, Nov. 4. A full course spaghetti dinner with meat or meatless sauce will be served. A carnival with fun galore for all ages is also on the program which is from 3 to 8 p.m. Dinner for adults is $1 and 50 cents for children. Chairman is Mrs. Donald Brandt, ways and means chairman. The Miami Junior Woman's Club held a reunion luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at noon at 737 N. Bayshore Dr. The president, Mrs. John Timothy Thomas, was honored. National Children's Cardiac Hospital, South Dade Chapter, had nominations, elections, and installation of officers at the home of Mrs. Stanley Salzman, 5035 SW 92 Ave. Installing officer was Robert Rubenstein, president of the Board of Governors of the National NCCA. Officers installed for the ensuing year are Mrs. Evelyn Smith, president; vice president, Gerry Davis, ways and means; vice president, Bernice Price, donor; vice president, Janice Feldman, membership; Fritzl Breslow, journal; vice president, Sandy Salzman, tag day; recording secretary, Joyce Goodman; corresponding secretary, Sara Jablon; financial secretary, Estelle Soloie; treasurer, Sue Satir; social secretary, Anita Buckbinder. Emerson Elementary School PTA is having its first audition and rehearsal for a musical called "Heavenly Days." The theme is based on happy occasions throughout the year. Parents and teachers will participate. All parents and those interested in having fun are urged to come and join the group and sing. Just to be yourself is all the qualifications you need to be in the show. Chairman is Tillie Harter. For information, call CA 6-1868. Sunrise AMG is having a kickoff buffet luncheon and card party on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 11:30 a.m., to be held at the Roney Plaza Hotel. The donation is $4 a person. The public is invited and maj jong groups and card game clubs can come and join in the fun. Mrs. Norma Chait, 7901 SW 20 St., has her mother, Mrs. Cohen, visiting her from Sparta, Tenn. Grandma is here especially to see the new grandson. Roosevelt Temple Pythian Sisters 33 had its donor luncheon at the Biscayne Terrace Hotel. Milt Ross-great comedian and actor who has completed a role in the "Al Jolson Story"-appeared and performed for two hours. The main project of Roosevelt Temple 33 is cancer research. Over $3000 has been donated for that purpose in the past few years. The community conveys its deepest sympathy to Harold Levy, son of the late Mrs. Min Levy, who died. She was a resident of Miami for many years. We all know her as our Min of Joe and Min's Pharmacy. Deepest sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bochner, 7950 SW 21 Ter., on the death of his grandmother. Get well wishes to Mrs. Gerry Leiberman, 69 NW 40 Ct., who is ill at Mt. Sinai Hospital. We are all happy to see Murray Mandell, 7930 SW 21 St., home from the hospital and feeling better. Welcome to our new neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rosen and family of Westchester Homes. Pythian Playhouse will present "Who Needs Money," a musical comedy directed by Bob Brenner. Gableite Named To Head Mutual Insurance Agents

George R. McKiever, prominent Coral Gables insurance agent, has been elected president of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Agents. McKiever was installed at ceremonies held in Washington, D. C., Wednesday. He has served as first vice president. In the insurance business in this area since 1945, McKiever is president of Elliot and McKiever, an insurance firm doing business at 2828 West Flagler St. Citizens Committee McKiever, a native of Sumter, S. C., has served as secretary of the Coral Gables Citizens Committee and on the Coral Gables Insurance Advisory Committee. He is also vice president and director of the Greater Miami Better Business Bureau and has served on the Dade County Citizens Committee on Liability Rates. Currently, he is vice foreman on the Dade County Grand Jury, served as president of the Florida Association of Mutual Insurance Agents and is a member of the Dade County Mutual Agents Association. Church Affiliation McKiever is also a member of the Little Flower Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Knights of Columbus. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Md. McKiever lives with his wife, Hilda, at 2601 Alhambra Cir. Country Club Prado Home Is Ransacked

The home of Mrs. Edgar Flowers, 2621 Country Club Prado, was ransacked sometime between Oct. 10 and 13 while she was away. Coral Gables police said that the extent of loss had not been determined pending a check of the home.
