Abramsons Married In Hotel Ballroom
MRS. IRA ABRAMSON The Alhambra ballroom of the Seville Hotel, Miami Beach, was the setting Sunday for the wedding of the former Miss Sondra Roberta Barchan, and Ira Abramson. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barchan, 2450 SW 21st Ter. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Abramson of Far Rockaway, New York. For her wedding, the bride chose a floor length gown of imported silk taffeta designed along princess lines with molded bodice and long point-on-hand sleeves. The bodice was highlighted with reembroidered Alencon lace. WHITE ORCHID BOUQUET Three crushed taffeta roses designed the back interest and the gown swept into an aisle wide train. Her bouffant short veil of illusion fell from a crown of pearls and she carried a bouquet of white orchids and valley lilies attached to her confirmation bible. Mrs. Alvin Corenblum, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Carol Meyer, Carol Post, Arlene Fishman and Judy Scherer. Patti Morris was flower girl and Jeffrey Corenblum served as page. Morton Ray, life-long friend of the groom was best man. Ushers were Lee Brachan, brother of the bride, Larry Abrams, brother-in-law of the groom, Howard Weinrich, Irwin Moshowitz and Kenneth Silverstein. 75 Gals Are 'Cards' At Bridge
By RAYMOND LANG Times Staffer I went to a bridge party with 75 women. It was fun. It's a good group, the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club, which was raising funds to air condition its clubhouse. I noticed something. Doesn't mean much, but when you don't know how to play bridge and you're in the middle of 75 women who do, you have time on your hands. I noticed wonderfully enlightening things. Like 11 women wore pearl necklaces and half wore shorts. Now I said I don't know how to play bridge. I'm a Monopoly man, myself. I saw something that didn't make sense. There was one woman, who looked like somebody's aunt - nice, if you know what I mean - who'd every now and then peak over at the cards in the hands of the woman sitting next to her. I thought maybe they were partners and could do that. But then this same woman leaned over the other way and looked at that woman's cards. This was not right, my sense of justice told me. I asked Mrs. Robert Rogers, 731 Davis Rd., why this woman could do that, look at everybody's cards. Mrs. Rogers told me this woman was a "dummy." That, I thought, wasn't nice to say, but for some reason, it seemed to make it right for the woman to peek at the cards in other people's hands. It was going to rain soon. The air had already cooled. "I'm freezing to death. I'm going to see if I can find a sweater," said Mrs. Weldon B. Lewis, 1502 Madrid St. She was back soon, no sweater. Mrs. Lewis settled down to her cards. Then she called to someone at the next table. "Pat! . . . Pat? . . . Joan! Ask Pat if she put up my car windows." Joan (Mrs. J. C. Pereno, Jr., 198 Sunrise Ave.) asked Pat (Mrs. David McDonald, 4160 Grove St.). Pat hadn't closed the windows. By now, I was staring into the ground glass of my camera. Carefully, I was focusing on this woman, my finger pressed on the shutter release. Suddenly, she and a dozen others leaped to their feet. I got scared. I didn't know what was happening. It was raining and they were simply going to close their car windows. One real heavy woman banged her leg going out the door. Bridge is fun. But I'll stick to Monopoly.
