Buzzes in Bowling
By LEE McNEELY Correspondent. The "700 Club" really lived up to its name, bowling in the Lee Barrie 700 Tournament. Howard Wolfe hit the maples for 704 for the first three games. He rolled a 1,280 for six games. Tony Macina, the defending champ totaled 1,246. The men put on quite a show, twelve of the 63 participants averaged above 200 for six games. Our Heart Fund League ended their summer season Friday night, and as always did themselves proud. Joe Del Buono bolwed 25-235-224 for a 715. Dave Parker came up with 214-223-247 for 684. Steve Howell rolled a 257 game totaling 655. Dave Metzger 231-652, Dock Kerr 254-666, Joe Cowart 261-655. We have really enjoyed this League, and hope we will have the pleasure of seeing them here for the summer next year. The Winter Bowling Season is almost upon us, the day after Labor Day the Bay Glades will start rolling at 7 p.m. Tuesday. All you bowlers that have not as yet signed up, now is the time! We have openings in our Mixed League on Wednesday Night. In the Thursday Night Men's Handicap League, the Desperate Five won the League championship, really they were desperate Thursday, they bowled a beautiful 3,068 set, one of their games was 1,099. We will start reporting the news of all our winter leagues in the next issue, so be sure to watch for us.
