"GEMS and FACETS"
as presented by Mr. CARROLL TV Lecturer, Gemstone and Diamond Authority, Member, American Gem Society "Quotes" from recent TV shows "Price Tags" for Sale — CHEAP! Whenever I hear of the "half-price" bargains people are always talking about it gives me a big charge. For so many years ago I hate to think of it — this system was a sure fire fooler. Put a big enough ticket on it in the first place and "half price" will bring an outlandish profit. Honest merchants and the Federal Trade Commission are trying to do something about it. But you've still got to be careful. You can depend upon Carroll's JEWELERS MIRACLE MILE near Salzedo Rd. • Coral Gables

Buzzes From Bowling
By LEE McNEELY Correspondent Monday night of last week, the Dixie Men's Handicap League started their season with Ed Lilly's 216, Joe Massimo's 200, Carl Hills' 202, McKinney's 245 and Wormer's 203. An interesting champ to watch is Jim Lopez, and new bowler of three months or less. He had himself games of 171-179-182 for a 532. I watched Jim practice one night, and saw him pick up the big-4 split. The Metro-Mixed started its season last week with a bang, Ed Tomerlin bowling 678. At the end of the season, our secretary Frank Freeman challenged the Dixiecrats Mixed, their top team, against our's from the Metro-Mixed. Details haven't all been worked out. The Dixiecrats had Ed Chalton, on the Bank of South Miami team, rolling 216, Ted Wayne, 202, George Waterhouse 213, M. Rosenkrans, 206, Bud Haller, 203, Joe Massimo, 205. Louise Ragsdale, a new bowler was just six pins away from her first 200 game. In the South Miami. Elks's League, Ray Mack rolled 221, Doe Margolis 209, Walt Jeffries 211, Roy Werntz 212, and Dick Carter came through with a 200. The South Dade Ladies All-Star League seems to be really full of stars. Pauline Stickler rolled 'em over recently for a 257-603 set, this week a 210-563 set. Our Bowl-O-Mat team did itself proud recently. We took three games from Pauline's Sunset Corner's team. Terry Martin came close to her first 600 night, with a 213-202-172 for a 587 set, just one mark away.
