Sandy Hoff Heads Girls' Council, Mimi Klein New Palmetto Editor
By EUNICE TALL Correspondent Palmetto High School opened its doors Sept. 5 to 200 new students, making a total enrollment of 2,051 for the 1961-62 year. Occupying 70 homerooms are 414 seniors, 484 juniors, 687 sophomores and 467 freshmen. The building of Palmetto Junior High this summer enabled Palmetto High School to eliminate the seventh and eighth grade students present last year. Palmetto now has a faculty of 92. Girls' Council of Palmetto has begun another year with its Big Sister-Little Sister program under the direction of Jan Wackenhut, chairman. Under this program, new girls coming to Palmetto for the first time are assigned a Big Sister, a Palmetto student, who acquaints the new girl with the school life and new area. New Girls' Council officers for the year are Sandy Hoff, president; Cathy Copley, first vice president; Judi Cohen, second vice president; Cheryl Wills, secretary; Leslie Kehoe, Corresponding secretary; Kathy Hayes, treasurer; Eunice Tall, historian; and Judi Davis, chaplain. Mrs. Shirley Newman and Mrs. Clara Pawley are co-sponsors of this organization. The annual Palmetto Booster's Club Barbeque will be held Saturday (Sept. 23) from 5 to 8 p.m. in the school cafeteria, 7460 SW 118th St. Tickets are on sale for $1.25, children; $1.75 adults. Profits will be used by the Booster's Club for the benefit of the students. Third year Palmetto Panther editorial staff positions were recently announced by Miss Mary Stainton, advisor. Mimi Klein heads the staff as editor. Mimi, a senior, is a third year journalism student. She has formerly held the positions of features editor and associate news editor on Palmetto's school paper. Serving with Mimi are Eunice Tall as news editor; Doug Griest, associate editor; [TEXT LOST] Lieberman, features [TEXT LOST] editor; and John Long, spor[TEXT LOST] ts editor.

St. Brendan's Plans Show Of Fashions
St. Brendan's Women's Club will present "World of Fashions," its annual card party, fashion show and luncheon Sept. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at Christopher Columbus Cafeteria. The travel clothes will be sewn and modeled by members of the club and surprise fashions also will be shown. Moderator will be TV star Janet Lake. A fur stole and jeweled cashmere sweater will be the feature raffle prizes. Door prizes will also be awarded. Reservations may be made by contacting Mrs. Robert Murphy, chairman of the event, at CA 6-1780.
Miss True, Mr. Judge Repeat Vows at Wayside
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest M. True, 6440 SW 98th St., announce the marriage of their daughter, Nancy La Dene, to John William Judge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Judge, of 10400 SW 42nd Ter. The wedding took place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wayside Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hinson, officiating at double-ring ceremony. The reception followed in the Church reception hall. Given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. True, the bride wore a bridal gown fashioned entirely of imported French lace. Made along princess lines with fitted bodice, brief sleeves, scoop neckline and elbow length mitts. The full-floor length skirt swept into an aisle wide train. Her veil fell from a coronet of the lace and she carried a white carnations centered with a Cattleya orchid. The bride's four attendants wore identical gowns of orchid chiffon, matching pleated headpieces and carried bouquets of yellow carnations. They were Mrs. Barbara Gasparini, honor matron; Mrs. Connie Flemming, of Coral Gables; Mrs. Hathleen Pruitt and Miss Jean Stoky, Miami, bridesmaids. Donald E. Klebler was best man. Ushers were R. Laymond Gasparini, Walter T. La Faver, William Pruitt Jr., Lewis M. True and Timothy C. Judge. For the wedding, the mother of the bride wore a beige embossed taffeta sheath with matching jacket, and an orchid wrist corsage. Mother of the groom wore a turquoise chiffon sheath with draped blouse, matching accessories, and a wrist orchid corsage. Among [TEXT LOST] out of town guests at the wedding was the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Maris McGhee of Freeport, N.Y. The bride is a graduate of Palmetto High School, and the groom is a graduate of Coral Gables High School. Following a tour of the state, the couple will reside in Jacksonville.
