Candlelight Glows For Rudnick Rites

MRS. EDWARD B. RUDNICK On a tour of Florida are Mr. and Mrs. Edward B. Rudnick, following their Saturday wedding at the Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami Beach. The bride is the former Louise Barbara Hess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Hess, 2190 SW 10th St. The groom is the son of Mrs. John Rudnick, 617 Palermo Ave., and the late Mr. Rudnick. The Rosewood Room and Terrace of the Fontainebleau was the setting for the 6:30 p.m. double ring candlelight ceremony with Dr. Joseph R. Narot of Temple Israel officiating. For her wedding the bride wore an imported white silk satin gown made floor length. The fitted bodice was styled with a beautifully cut open neck, outlined in imported handdrawn Alencon lace reembroidered in seed pearls and iridescent paillettes. The bustle back and cathedral train etched in satin rosettes and alencon lace appliques. Her voluminous veil of French silk illusion fell from a crown of pearls and iridescent beads. She carried a bouquet of orchids and Valley lilies on her confirmation Bible. The bride also carried for her something old an heirloom Rosepoint lace and satin handkerchief, which have been carried by three generations of brides in her mother's family. Mrs. Ethel Woolf, aunt of the bride, of New York City, was matron of honor. Miss Terry Hellman was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sandra Barchan, Rita Rekant, Riva Black and Rita Lewison. Paula Weintraub was junior bridesmaid. Margo Schwartz, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Abner Weintraub was page. Richard Essen, friend of the groom since childhood, was best man. Ushers were Jay Bruce Hess, brother of the bride, Neil Rosenman, brother-in-law of the groom, Thomas Rosing, David Komansky and Leonard Marinello. The bride is a graduate of Miami High School and the Charm Modeling School, Coral Gables. She is presently a student at the University of Miami, majoring in Elementary Education. She has served as vice president of Tags Group. B'nai B'rith girls; captain of the Ballet Corps, and as vice president of Phi Sigma Tau sorority at Miami High School. The groom was graduated from Coral Gables High School and has completed four years service overseas with the U. S. Navy. He is presently a student at the University of Miami majoring in accounting. The couple will reside in Coral Gables.

IT WAS A SURPRISE It was Hannelore (Mrs. F. J.) Hill's birthday yesterday, and Pat (Mrs. H. W.) Cook Jr. gave a surprise birthday luncheon at her home on Trevino Ave. for her. Invited were Mrs. Harry Graham, Mrs. Tom Stokes, Mrs. Sidney Kass, Mrs. Carl Haub, Mrs. W. R. Cunningham, Mrs. Harrison Faith and Mrs. Joseph Coppedge. Hannelore and Pat were co-chairmen for the recent fashion show at the Country Club of Coral Gables. * * * * * HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY Orchids to Mrs. Wade Fetzer, of 4800 San Amaro Dr. and Hinsdale, Ill., who celebrated her 82nd birthday in her Coral Gables home Thursday. Lucky Mrs. Fetzer, mother of four, two daughters and two sons, had them all home for the occasion. From Hinsdale were Mrs. Fetzer's daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Sherman and family, and Wade Fetzer Jr. and family of Chicago. Locally, her children are Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Schofield Bryant and three daughters, Margaret Ann, Mary Nell and Patrica of Miami Shores, and Dr. and Mrs. John C. Fetzer and family, 4801 Alhambra Cir. Mrs. Fetzer, who is blessed with good health, loves her winters here in Coral Gables and enjoys summers in Illinois. * * * * * BACK TO THE GRIND FOR NICKY PARSON Nancy "Nicky" Parson who had seven days between semesters at home with her parents, the Franklin Parson's, of 839 Catalonia, left yesterday for Tallahassee where she is a freshman at Florida State University. Her mother, Esther, a member of the Country Club of Coral Gables Women's Golf Association, tells us she and her husband have also joined the new Palmetto Golf and Country Club which closed its membership at 500. She also said the 18 hole Palmetto course is a dandy-with water hazards and some narrow fairways. The Palmetto course had the practiced hand and eye of that golfing genius, Henry Russell Jr., and his dad, better known as Hawley Russell, who had a hand in creating the layout of the Riviera Country Club Golf Course. Henry and his wife, Betty, both graduates of Duke University, have three sons, Henry III, senior engineering major at Duke; Aubrey, nicknamed "Mac", 17, and Chris. But it is Mac who has inherited the golfing go and skill in the family. * * * * * Big event in the life of Mrs. Cecelia Utsey Kern, 3610 Alhambra Ct., will be as the first passenger in the second cross country flight of her youngest son, Frank B. "Chip" Kern Jr. Chip, a commercial aviation student, took his instructions at the Flight School in Kendall. In March he will make his first solo cross country flight-a six hour run from Miami to Lakeland and back to earn his wings. Chip is a junior at Coral Gables High School. Chip's next older brother, Craig Kern, a lieutenant in the Air Force, stationed at the Richard Gebaur Base near Kansas City, will leave for Greenland in April and his new base of operations. However, he will be home again (he was here at Christmas) March 3-8 to enter the Sawgrass Small Bore Tournament to be held at the Trail Glades Range. While Craig was here, Ceil gave a theatre party for both Craig and their dates, Ann Strakan and Pam Knight, Chip's girl, to see Kirk Douglas in "Spartacus."
