'Every trip is an art trip'
From Page 15 large walk-in closet and a long dresser with red drawers and a white top. The quilt on the double bed dates from 1918. It's a Red Cross quilt made by local women who took $1 contributions from neighbors for the war effort and then embroidered the neighbor's name into the wheels on each red-borderd white square. "I got that in Pennsylvania when I was up there campaigning for Carter," Karalyn said. "For me, every trip is an art trip." A fanciful graphic by Fabregas hangs on one bedroom wall and on the other Karalyn has displayed Indian bead and metal work necklaces on individual nails, creating both convenient storage and an innovative and attractive decorating accent. Such touches appear throughout the house, like the butcher block table in the dining room and the stone tile topped wooden sideboard. Chairs with wicker seats and orange ladder backs surround the table and an antique tray on the table sports an attractive arrangement of apples, peaches and bananas. A bright yellow and crisp white kitchen is off the dining room which also opens onto the living room. "This is a great party house," Karalyn said. "It opens up for company." Guests also tend to gather on the sun deck and on the long porch facing the back-yard. But a blue tricycle and a waterpaint splattered easel on the porch testify that even here, two little boys make the elegant, art-filled Robinson house a family home as well. Travel mementos and paintings are displayed on family room walls and books overflow from built in shelves.
