Coral Gables resident chosen as Family Leader of Tomorrow
Rick Viciana has been named Miami Christian School's 1976-77 General Mills Family Leader of Tomorrow. Viciana, 1565 Malaga Ave., Coral Gables, won the honor by competing with other seniors in a written knowledge and attitude examination Dec. 7. Viciana, also named a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition, has been a student at Miami Christian School since seventh grade.
Professor honored
Anna R. Ceci Knabb, a University of Miami professor who has taught Italian at the UM for 30 years, is being honored at a testimonial dinner sponsored by the Italian American Club of South Dade. The dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 19 at the Officers Club, Homestead Air Force Base. Donation is $12.50 per person and reservations may be made by calling 247-4871.
Housing director
Harry Wainshal has been named director of operations for the Primary Housing division of Arvida Corp., builders of Sabal Chase and The Crossings communities in South Florida. Wainshal, who lives in Southwest Miami, was born in Israel and received his degrees in civil engineering and diploma engineer from Technion University and the Israel Institute of Technology.
Promotion
Charles C. Licata, son of Mrs. Warren Clark of 4637 SW 11th St., has received first promotion in the U.S. Air Force. The airman is a 1974 graduate of Coral Gables High School.
Elected
Harry C. Taylor has been elected to the Board of Directors of University Federal. Also appointed are the following: George Abbruscato as controller and assistant treasurer, Donald E. Belt as assistant vice president-Data Systems, and R. Lesley Schooley as assistant vice president-Installment Loans. Chester Leiter, community and religious leader, was unanimously reelected president of the Israelite Center Temple, 3175 SW 25th St. Leiter, a resident of Coral Gables for the past 22 years, has served the Temple in many capacities, including financial secretary for six years. He is also an officer and dedicated worker in Sholem Lodge B'nai B'rith No. 1024, was a nominee for the Dade County Outstanding Citizen Award, is an ardent volunteer worker for the Heart Association of Greater Miami, and is active in many civic organizations. The officers elected to serve with Leiter are: Albert Zisman, first vice president; Max Temchin, second vice president; Max Garshag, third vice president; Al Landskroner, treasurer; Emanuel Kornstein, financial secretary; Jean Winston, recording secretary; Ruty Katzif, corresponding secretary; Lee Brydger, sergeant of arms. Members elected to serve on the board are: Morris Aron, Maurice Coulton, Joseph Graiman, Irving Gerzog, Pearl Koenigsberg, Esther Landskroner, Herman Litwin, Dena Leiter, Robert Meltzer, Ann Sonsky, Louis Sonsky, Benjamin Pelenberg, Al Winston, Herman Weger and Arthur Zweigenthal.
Dean's List
Wayne Lynch made the Dean's List at Florida State University during the fall quarter. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn J. Lynch, 5040 SW 92nd Ave.
