School Move Is Protested By Parents
(Continued from Page One) teachers will again climb aboard the busses and be transported back to the Elementary School again. Don't Want Portables "I don't see any other solution to the problem," Henderson stated, "as we certainly don't want to build any more portables." Mrs. Peene told The Riviera-Times that this is the second attempt at a solution to the over-crowded condition at the Elementary School. "Crazy Idea" "The first crazy idea that they had was to move portable classrooms to the site of the new Coral Gables High School and hold classes there. But there would be no water there and the children would be forced to put up with the noise and dust caused by bull dozers and construction crews." Strange Environment She pointed out that under the present plan, the children will be shifted to a strange environment for one year and then to another the following year, which she said is not conductive to learning. The Riviera-Times has received several phone calls from parents since the move was first announced. One irate father called the plan "an outrage" and said that one reason that the school is over-crowded is that it is filled each year by the children of temporary winter residents, while the children of year-round taxpayers are "shunted from pillar to post."

All of the patients are invited to participate. Gifts are presented to each patient whose birthday falls during the current month. "Fourteen patients were honored during June before the hospital was transferred from Nautilus Hotel on Miami Beach to the former Biltmore in Coral Gables. Refreshments were served to 150 patients, and entertainment furnished by Unit No. 2 of the Miami Variety Artists under the direction of Mrs. Dahlia Bell. Blue Road Bridge Building Action Is Asked by Resident Petitioners
(Continued from Page One) or east of us. Wait until Tropical Park opens in the fall! When the Blue Road bridge, for which we are asking, is replaced, the University cars and busses can go straight south from the University on Riviera Drive, curve into Cadagua, which joins Blue Road at the bridge, cross the canal and about two-tenths of a mile on Blue Road west, turn south on University Drive to the South Campus. This route over Riviera Drive, Cadagua and Blue Road from the University to where they turn south is one and three-tenths of a mile. The petitioners who live south of Bird Road on Santa Maria, Alhambra Circle, Allegria, etc., can go to Blue Road, drive east to Le Jeune and into the Gables. Traffic from Miami to the University can come west on Cadagua to Blue Road with no reason to touch Bird. We think it good management and good planning to see an overall picture and give it proper recognition. bridge. We would be satisfied with the same kind of bridge that was there originally, just to relieve us of the hazard of Bird Road traffic; to shorten the distance into the Gables, thus saving time and fuel. Again let me say for the great number of people who have signed this petition: We are not anti-anything. We are for the Blue Road bridge; any kind or color that will bear traffic. Incidentally, the people who have signed this petition, are in no way connected as far as it is concerned with the Riviera Property Owners' Association. Sincerely, LELIA B. NORMAN.
