FRANCIS H. BURKE and his bride, the former MISS MARGARET ALIN WALLS, are pictured following their June 9 marriage in St. Paul, Minn. They are residing in Alamosa, Colo., where Mr. Burke heads the music department at Adams State College. Mr. Burke is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher H. Burke of 2715 De Soto Boulevard, and is well known among musical circles in Coral Gables. He was graduated from the University of Miami, where he was a member of Sigma Kappa and Phi Mu Alpha national music fraternity. He received his master's at the University of Arizona.
SPONSORS PLAY RING THEATRE ON JULY 22ND
Ao augment their welfare fund, the Coral Gables Lions Auxiliary will sponsor the play "The Little Foxes," to be presented at the Ring Theatre July 22. Mrs. J. Kenneth Cole, 4-7563, is taking reservations. The group entertained at the Quarterdeck Club last evening. Guests included husbands and friends of members. The auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting July 2nd at the Elks Club with Mrs. Dalton Wright, Mrs. Frederick Glass and Mrs. Dana Woodman, hostesses. They voted an appropriation of $300 toward the purchase of shoes for needy children.
Gibbons Family Sees Famed Marine Studio
Richard E. Gibbons and family, of 3905 Granada Boulevard, Coral Gables, were visitors at Marine Studios, world's only oceanarium, July 6. While there, the family stopped at Marine Village overnight. Joan 10, and William Harold, 9, will be Elementary school students.
MARY W. STAHL CHOSEN Little Flower Names Chairmen
The highlight of the final meeting of the season of the Little Flower Society was the announcement that Miss Mary W. Stahl of 1002 Granada Boulevard, a junior in St. Theresa's High School, had been selected to attend the Florida Girls' State in Florida State University, Tallahassee, July 14 to 19th as their representative at this parley. Miss Stahl was chosen for her leadership, character, scholarship, and cooperativeness, and at Girls' State she will join other girls similarly selected throughout Florida in establishing and operating a state of their own. Mrs. J. J. Dysart, the new president, announced the following committee appointments: Rosary circle, Mrs. R. B. Roberts, Jr.; sewing circle, Mrs. Arthur Muxxy; league of sacred heart, Mrs. H. H. Gleason; P.T.A., Mrs. Cyril Haas; ways and means, Mrs. William Gorman; publicity, Mrs. J. B. Specht; historian, Mrs. Charles Trotter; post-war services, Mrs. Sidney Birchler; legislative, Mrs. Reginald Hart; parliamentarian, Mrs. Reginald Hart; program, MRS. DYSART Mrs. S. A. Shikany; hospitality, Mrs. Albert Russell; flower, Mrs. William Brown, Mrs. Steadman Stahl and Mrs. Cyril Haas; linen, Mrs. A. H. Baxter; membership, Mrs. George Cummings, and notification, Mrs. P. Gableites Seek Cool Weather In Northern Trek; Some Like Mountains Others Seek Shore
Among socially prominent Coral Gableites vacationing in the mountains are Mr. and Mrs. J. Lamar Paxson, who are at their Hendersonville, N. C., place; the E. M. Reinholds are at Asheville, N. C.; Mrs. E. M. Belcher is spending the summer at Balsam, N. C., and Mrs. A. L. Anderson is at Highlands. Miss Helen Halls, director of the Exmoor School in Coral Gables, and members of her staff, are vacationing at Flat Rock, N. C. At Sunshst Farms, Whittier, N. C., are Mrs. Anna A. White and Mrs. Anita B. Hughes. Dr. and Mrs. Paul H. Robertson are at Jefferson, Maine. Also in the New England states are Mrs. Martha L. Murray, at Medford; the Paul Froilands at Long Meadow, and the Edward Goodriches, Blandford, all in Massachusetts. Mrs. Ippolito Longhi, who formerly resided in the Gables, and spends her winters here, is summering at Jamaica Plains, Mass. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Edwards are in Boston for a vacation, while Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. White and sons, Bradford and Charles, have taken a cottage at Longport, N.J.
Vacation Packing For Fun
A very good drycleaner, located in a resort town, reports sadly on the things some girls do which spoil a long looked forward to vacation. The one he runs into most frequently is the result of packing ones suitcase so tightly that it has to be sat on to close. Place tissue paper inside the sleeves, folds and creases of your clothes. In fact, he adds, a good packer always does this.
Eastern Star Daylight Chapter Names Stated Meeting Date
Daylight Chapter, U. D. Order of the Eastern Star, will hold a stated meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Biscayne Temple, 120 N. W. 15th Avenue. Dr. Robert Dickey Wins Moonlight Sail
Dr. Robert Dickey of Coral Gables added another "blue-ribbon" to his constantly growing trophy shelf when his "Dottie Lee" won the Coconut Grove Sailing Club's moonlight race, which started Saturday night and ended early Sunday morning.. Dr. Dickey overcame a choppy sea and a 12-mile beat to windward to gain the victory. Carol Gulliver was second in "C Gull" with Don Smith's dinghy "Dunkus," third.

Welcome Mat Jerseyites - Philadelphians Gables Newcomers
The Coral Gables welcome mat is being dusted off this week for several families of newcomers from different parts of the country. From Ocean City, N J., are Mr. and Mrs. Chellis Stockwell, who have bought the property at 1422 Coral Way, for their Florida home. Mr. Stockwell, retired, will be seeking sun and health. He is interested greatly in the flora which abounds in Coral Gables and South Florida and will be an addition to the various garden groups, studying seriously the tropical plants and trees. * * * Joining the 'group' of home owners, attending the University of Miami are Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Rogers, Jr., who have bought the house at 717 Avenue Santander for their home. From Brudenton, Mr. Rogers is completing his courses at the nearby University. The couple recently returned from a Caribbean trip. * * * The John Willmotts are the new owners of the house at 1254 La Mancha Blvd., which they have already furnished for their Florida home. Their son Irving, 16, will attend Ponce de Leon High School, and daughter, Miss Sue Willmott, has just finished school, having been graduated in June from the University of North Carolina. An addition to the club and social life of the Gables will be Mrs. Willmott, who is a Smith College alumnae. * * * Joining the newcomers from Philadelphia are Mr. and Mrs. William Bush, who have just purchased the house at 809 Avenue Catalina, where, with their three children, they expect to make their home. Their daughter, Barbara Joan, 13, will probably enter Ponce de Leon High school. Gail Taking possession of their attractive new home at 3401 Granada Boulevard on Monday next will be Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Good, who have sold their former home at 926 Avenue Andalusia to Mrs. Emma Loescher of Muskogen, Mich. Both Mr. and Mrs. Good are prominent among the younger married groups and Mrs. Good is a member of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club. * * * Choose Coral Gables Mr. and Mrs. Lindrell Carpenter are newcomers to Coral Gables from Detroit, Mich. They are residing at 909 Tangier Street, which they recently purchased and their two sons are Lynn, 9, and Michael 7. Mr. Carpenter is connected with the Ussery Co., car dealers.
TWO GABLES MEN ON TRAVEL TRIP
An interesting trip has been planned by N. R. Davidson, curate at St. Phillip's Episcopal Church, and David Watson of 2413 North Greenway Drive, who left Tampa Saturday abroad the banana freighter "Desire" for a junket south of the border. Armed with a movie camera and bound for Port Barrios, Guatemala they plan to travel by rail to Guatemala City visiting the world famous cathedral at Chichicastenango. From there by 'native' transporation and on foot they travel through Salvatore, Nicaragua and up into Mexico. The end of July will find Mr. Davidson who is head of the St. Phillip's boys camp and David, counseller at the camp, back and ready to begin a month's camping at Greynolds park. From Detroit Planning to eventually make Coral Gables their permanent home, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Peicholchi of Detroit, Mich., have purchased the home at 1220 Avenue Ortega, Mrs. Peicholchi has arrived to superintend the arranging of the new place. The Peicholchis have grown children,, a son, Dr. L. C. Peicholchi of Detroit.

Valerie, who graduated from the Elementary school in June, and Norma are at Camp Alpine, Mentone, Ala., and will join their parents in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Peene are busy packing and will sell their home at 1426 Avenue Santa Cruz, leaving about August 2nd. Members of the Country Club of Coral Gables, Mrs. Peene was a member of the executive board of the Coral Gables Woman's Club and a newly elected president of the Coral Gables Elementary Parent-Teacher Association. * * * Claudia Street (Mrs. Wade Livingston) postcards from New York City that she is now quartered at the Barbizan Plaza Hotel and will embark upon a six weeks course of voice at the Julliard School of Music. Mrs. Street has been vacationing with friends at "Cecliwood" in quaint Fishkill, N. Y., and enjoying motor trips into the Berkshires and the White and Green mountains including interesting Hyde Park and West Point. * * * It's a baby boy and first son at the William C. Swain's, 4350 S. W. Fourth street, born June 19 at St. Francis Hospital. The baby, named William Foster Swain, has two older sisters, Doris Allen and Beth Linda. Mr. Swain a local banker is immediate past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was its first president under the reorganization plan.
